exactly....i just meant there are many things to spend your money on where your money works for you
 
well i have to have a nest egg for a rainy day which is money on hand for 3 months of living including expenses. My parents lived check to check and i refuse to that to myself


I have a couple of short term DCs and rest is spread out in low risk/high risk opportunities.


i am presently looking for a good college fund for my daughter

Bran any ideas?

Gotcha, 40% being rent/food/utilities/credit cards/cars, etc. I just can't imagine the average individual doing that.

Yes take advantage of one of these high yield savings accounts offered be capital one online you can link it directly to your checking accout and ach transfer funds whenever needed i think it pays 7 percent you daughter is pretty young right? that would be a great choice
 
sorry its only paying 5% now but still your money is fed backed up to 100k and you can move it to and from your checking as you need to
