What % of street fights go to the ground?

Actualy the Origional % that ppl used to throw around (cant for the life of me remember what it was) was from an LAPD report about how many "Streeet Encounters" between Officers and Perpetrators end up on the Ground .

Ill say it again , however , having a Gun and ORDERING the person onto the ground makes that VERY High statistic seem FAR less Improbable .

not only that but you have to consider cops are trained at grappling
they are not trained to box you into submission
talk about stacking the deck

to follow someone to the ground, on the street is a risk. unless your alone, without fear of interuption. being pulled down is cursed.

because once your down, humping the dude you just dropped, you put yourself at risk from others.

drop them and leave the scene. spit if you have to. but the safety of one on one gym work doesnt cut the shit of the street. hell, most people when dropped, get a head kicking.

why do people grab the hands of the grabber? now it becomes a strength fight. if someone grabs you, sweet, they just lost their hands, you got their eyes and throat.

p.s. 85% of statistics are made up.(that one included.)

I totally agree fights due go to the ground very often but in the streets your trying to to say on your feet as much as possible think about it "WHY DO YOU HAVE A STREET FIGHT" mainly your at a club, at a bar or a party where you fight someone and that someone mostlikely has friends and you have friends too is is high chance they are going to jump in. In this scenario triangle Choke is not a good Idea you can get kicked in the face!!

You know whats so VERY funny about this ?

YOu would THINK that the system that used this as a Sales Tactic would have IMMACULATE Takedown Defenses .

I mena, wouldnt you ?

There is no set precentage. It just depends on the two people fighting. Me personally when the fight goes to the ground is when I knock him out, but that's just me. Too many people think that if you shoot the legs you'll get a take down, but not true. I've wrestled and trained in ju jitsu and I can keep a fight standing up if I want or take a person down if I want. It all depends on the two people fighting. These outraheous numbers come from people watching a bunch of stupid drunks fighting and say well the fight went to the ground.

I would think every system should have the strongest Takedown Defence they can
why?
because I'd rather be doing the Takedown if we go to the ground
and if I don't get the takedown, I'd rather keep it standing
I'd rather keep it standing in general
I'd only go to the ground if the guy I was fighting had better standup or I had reason to believe his grappling was bad
because you aer already at standup range in general, and you can if it starts to go badly for you attempt to take it ot the ground and try to outgrapple them, but if you are better at standup and go to take his ass down, you can't be sure you are a better grappler and if you find out you arn't you found out too late...

Kane :

Im WITH you , man , thats aall Kuaijiao/Push Hands training IS - Takedown Counters . I drill that crap ll day , m just saying that BJJs Takedowns/Defenses arent all that stellar . Theyre great ON the grond , why dont they worry more about not getting there in the first place ?

probubly because BJJ is generally a sport that once on the ground is really solid
but they are not concerned too greatly with getting to the ground because generally in the sport comps both people want to get to the same place
to round a fighter out Judo or amauter wrestling (Freestyle or Greco) are great aids
I personally would prefer Judo but ideally train in everything you can that is relativly proven
