What memories do you associate with certain odors?

No secret that smells, for whatever reason, are the most evocative of memory of all the senses. I just found this ancient overnight bag under my bed that I used to use when I spend the night with my first serious boyfriend. I found his bottle of Burberry with a tiny trickle left in it and I sprayed a little on my wrist on impulse.......brought bad so many vivid memories of that dude.

Hot asphault in the sun reminds me of going to Six Flags when I was little, a hot curling iron sometimes reminds me when I first used one when I was 9 and was in a beauty pageant. Frijolies cooking remind me of Mexico, etc.

I actually had an experience like this very recently. I stumbled upon some scented magic markers, and when sniffing them was instantly transported into memories of my childhood, and being in school using scented magic markers. It was pretty cool. It was like the scent instantly reminded me of the carefree innocence of being a little kid, and what my life was like then and made me realize it is no longer like that.

It was totally cool I tell ya.

smoldering fire in the fireplace and the smell of pot - visiting my dad in california every summer

clothes dried out in the sun- my first boyfriend, who's mom didn't own a dryer.

jean nate perfume- my grandmother

vegetable stew- coming home to an empty house with a slowcooker on the counter and a note to help myself from the time i was 9 years old and turning around to go find a friend who's parents would let me have dinner there.

baby powder always reminds me of my godson that died two years ago. he was the closest thing to a child of my own that i have ever had. used to always love giving him a bath, but sometimes it seems that he splashed me with more water. :heart:

the smell of pipe tobacco reminds me of my grandfather before the cancer, the smell of slcohol wipes after the cancer. i always had to clean his iv ports for him.

the smell of my mothers perfum always makes me feel at home. :qt:

smell of death from a patient that is near the end always breaks my heart a little. :coffee:

White Diamonds perfume = anal sex

Used to date a hot little spanish number that wore this perfume and it just smelled perfect on her. That combined with her penchant for wanting it in the ass has made for a memorable association.

don't know about smells but when i hear the song "she's only 17" i think about playing double dragon on nintendo

One Insult Alter and one Tuc slam.....I figured this topic would pull more than 4 genuine answers

SlickPapi, I get totally the same reaction with the markers as you. :)

I do the same thing....
Erasers = kindergarden
Pines = Christmas
Gas = snowmobiling as a kid

Yeah songs of course remind me of stuff too, but the scent is like an instant time warp to what it relates to. It's crazy.

Haven't really had this recently, so I couldn't tell you what smells do what.

I did catch a whiff of this perfume my ex used to wear. That was kinda odd.

Whe i was pledging my fraternity, there was this smell that will never be forgotten. It was the mix of all the foods blended in a blender ( TUna sardines, mustard mayo, you name) Plus the smell of puke. Yeah brigns me back to the frat days.

My grandma has been wearing a perfume called "SUNG" for as long as I could remember..everytime I smell it I think of her
