What makes you an american?

lol...aint that right :lmao:

Its sad really. I mean my dad and mom came here to the states 30 years ago and made their own way. had 500 dollars in their savings. Dad took shitty jobs and saved enough money to open up an Upholstery Shop (cars, boats, furniture re-upholstery)

Taught themselves english, never went on welfare, got their naturalized citizenship, never once been arrested, or even gotten a speeding ticket.

They never asked for a handout, and always assimilated as best as possible into the community.

They are what American really is.

same with my in-laws. My father-in-law told me he came with only a suitcase and few dollars.

where at are people getting persecuted because of religion?

Oh no no not anymore. I was referring to the olden times---Hitler---and I am glad that American foreign policy finally changed during this time to fight against dictators.

What I really meant was like, I have such compassion towards people who were killed because they lived in a bad part of the world.

that yeah, I felt the same way. Sometimes I thought I have it bad and then see the news and think - wow, I am so lucky...

they hate anyone that is too lazy to work and takes advantage of the system. Cause they know the best that if you work and know how to save and not spend it all on booze, drugs and expensive stuff, you can have a very nice life.

My best friend is black and she works 3 jobs. So, dont generalize plz :(

You know what . . . never mind. It isn't even worth it.

you know what? that original post came out wrong. you're right. it isnt a color issue with welfare--thats a stereotype so I apologize.

i have no problem with black people. i just meant I understand why my dad gets pissed and votes republican thats all.

does my dad like black people. no. do i fault him? no. he has his reasons. I have my reasons why I hate people from Chile.

what makes me american? I think I'm better than everyone else.

how can you not get more american than that?

WERD

If a cat crawls into an oven and has kittens, would that then make her offspring "muffins"?

I am American only because I was born here.

My father came to this country as a refugee from a country that the US promised to support if they rose up against communism. Yea, they are STILL WAITING. He had nothing but the clothing on his back. My mother came about 10 years later with the clothing she had on and one change in her bag. Neither had a formal education or knew a word of English. And busted their asses to make it...

But things have changed since their generation. My sister and I BOTH would leave this country in a heartbeat if we could.

I consider myself Hungarian first, always have and always will.

(And for those of you who say - then leave. Believe me mothafuggas... I TRIED.)
