What makes Bodybuilders BIG? Steroids?

What is the aspect that makes a bodybuilder BIG? Steroids use? Genetics? Diet?

I've seen alot of people on GYM and we all know the hard working type that never seems to get any results. This guy busts his ass on the GYM and drinks his shakes and sleeps well and follows a clean diet and he just can't seem to get BIG.

Then there is another guy, who doesent know what he is doing, following a crappy diet and he GAINS alot of muscles and he looks RIPPED and big.

My close friend lifts REALLY heavy weights, but outside the GYM he looks like a FIT guy, not a BODYBUILDER. So why he still looks like a normal guy and not a bodybuilder?

How can that friend achieve the bodybuilders look? He wants to look like a someone who've been at the GYM for over 4 years.

if his thyroid is normal (get it checked bydoc if not been checked) the id say its diet and trianing.

of often is he lifitng? I only lift about eod (2-4X a week) and work 1-2 muscle groups per workout and only hit them 1-2X a week max.

you grow OUT of the gym not in it.
also you have to change your training style all the time. to keep growing. your body adapts.
even just adjusting the angle of a workout your normally do would help.

Good luck

What you're saying is genetics determines whether a person can achieve a bodybuilders look or not? So bodybuilders are born bodybuilders...
It plays a role but its not the only thing that matters.
even with genetices you can adjust them (aas and peptides)

All that matters is that YOU are being the best that YOU can be! Bust your ass in the gym, and keep your diet always a priority. Bodybuilding is not a hobby, it is a lifestyle...and if you do not live that way, then you are cutting yourself short ;)

Honestly it is all genetics.

I was able to get to 295 while I was still in high School! of course this was at 20% body fat but that is still nothing short of just what I had genetics wise. I was big but also soft and had very little definition. I was able to drop down my body fat through the years and now sit at a solid 245 and 8%.

However I am trying to get my pro card in the years to come and the only way that I am going to be able to compete at that level is with performance enhancers ie AAS.

AAS definatley has its role but it will not transform a twig into a pro, no matter how much you give them or even if they cycle correctly and for years to come they simply do not have the genetics to put on that kind of mass.

The pros have a near perfect diet all the time and rarely cheat on meals do gut busting workouts consistently and yes have a very good strong steroid cycle and they know what works for their body

Im one of those guys. Big compared to coworkers and friends but not compared to the big dudes at my gym. I eat clean and used to think I ate a lot but once I started tracking it I found I get an avg of 2500 cals per day. I probably need 3000-4000 to bulk considerably. And I have found that its pretty hard to eat that much if you truly eat clean. That is a lot of chicken breast
