I am no expert on that but as I said before, I am pretty sure that is something Israel will not let happen.
I think right now we are counting on the US and whoever to do something about it, if it fails, Israel will probably just find a way to make the reactor dissapear (airstrike or missilestrike) I do not think a war will start, it will be an attack and Iran will not be able to do anything about it if we succeede. They may try send missiles or something but we can beat them at that. They would not send airforce coz they would stand no chance.

For someone who tries to sound so learned, you obviously dont know a whole lot about the Iranian culture and the capability of their force. If you're so confident, we should let you go ahead then refuse to back you in any way, shape, and form when you have to deal with the consequences

I really think that the US will probably sort this out instead though, they seem to be pretty firm about not wanting Iran to have nukes.

Thats the problem, folks around your parts seem to always look to us to solve their problems for them. The only reason a few people here dont want Iran to have a nuke is because a tiny place named Israel doesnt feel comfortable with it. They Jewish influence in this country is far, far too strong.


BTW, if I sound arrogant about Israels military abilities on this then sorry, but this is what Israel is built on: The military superiority over our neighbours, anything less and we are good as dead.
Same with the US. After all, it is pretty much our military you are using there

One airstrike, end of nuclear reactor, Iran continues hating Israel... nothing changes.

I was thinking about this and discussing with friends yesterday and I came to the following conclusion:

If it becomes a definite threat, Israel will probably do something however... I was reading an article that said even if Iran's reactor is gone, they will still have a way of making dirty bombs by enriching uranium, and that is something that you cannot get rid of with an airstrike... so whats the point of bombing them? Just make em angrier...
Will diplomacy work here? probably not, so I think that ups the chances of a US invasion.

If it was just the reactor it would be best to leave it to Israel but it is more comlicated. I don't think we are capable of actually invading Iran or have any motivation to.

I have my money on nothing happening and Iran will do what it wants, but knowing Bush... He may enjoy another chance of being able to "send his boys in"

most of the land in dispute was takne by Israel in '67 during the six day war.
Israel defeated the combined forces of Egypt, Jordan and Syria, seizing control of the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip from Egypt, of the West Bank from Jordan and of the Golan Heights from Syria. UN resolution 242 provded for Israel to keep "defensible Borders" back then.

I dont know Allon about how effective airstrikes would be. I was watching some experts yesterday talking about those nuclear facilities are dispersed throughout the country, underground and hardened. Seems they thought ahead about airstrikes. This will be interesting to see what happens, experts had no clue yesterday as to what will happen and the best solution. And they are way smarter about the situation than I am.

Iran has been a very surveyed country and the US asked for plans to be drawn as to how to take out the facilities a few months ago, so Im sure there's a plan already drawn up. Of course, we cant intelligently read into that at all as its standard procedure to draw those up. Im sure PW will make a point of it though LOL!

BTW, I thought it may interest you to know that the general publi opinion in Israel right now regarding developments in gaza seems to be a mixture of surprise and disbeleif, like "yeh we have seen this before and nothing changed" so many people are like ok, lets see if this holds up, once it holds up we will beleive it...

The problem in these situations is its when the minorities always wait for the smallest thing to prance on and make a big scene, then the press uses the situation to sell newspapers (the press are the biggest hinderance to the peace process IMO) and kaboom, everything escalates.
It is so fragile, will have to see what happens, but Abbas seems to have the capabilities of pulling it off on his side.

So interesting.
