a beach to visit while we are in orlando- obviously i realise there isnt a beach in orlando lol but we are renting a vehicle so i want to spend a day at the beach.

This time of year you would have to go South.

South Beach might even be to cold now? I went there a few years ago in December, and it was too cold.

It was nice when I went a couple weeks ago. Had a few FREEZING days (like 40 degrees) but that was rare.

We drove to Daytona and Crystal Beach when we were in Orlando. I liked Crystal beach the best. The drive didn't take too long either.

Daytona is pretty far north, so is cooler this time of year. If you were going a week or two later you have Race week and Bike week following each other which really brings the crowds to Daytona.

I'd suggest Cocoa/Melbourne or even farther south, make a day trip to Ft. Lauderdale/ South Beach, about 3 - 3.5 hours down the Turnpike.
