Our Spring Break was this week. We go back Monday. We also get 2 weeks in December.

But then again, most of our schools are year-round. :(

you mean no summer vacations???? So do they atleast get a week off in between grades?

It is a little strange ..... our grades run Aug-Aug. There are typically 5 different "tracks" - one track is always out on break, so in a given school, there are only 4 tracks in at a time. We get a "summer vacation" but it is split into 3 breaks throughout the year (track break).

For example, I am on Track 4. I was off for 4 weeks in November, 3 weeks in March and I am off for 3 weeks in June/July.

The 2005-06 school year ends Aug 11th. The 2006-07 school year starts Aug 28th.

I actually really like it. Next year, I want to switch to another track - one where I am never in school for more than 7 weeks without a break.

When I am on break, we go part-time at daycare - pay a reduced rate and the little one will only go a couple hours a day a couple times a week. So I will take her to daycare and go get a haircut, run errands, get some work done, etc. ANd she only has to be there for a couple hours.

I love year round schools. Mine was a K-8 year round. Now it's a K-6 traditional. At first the tracking system is hard to get use to. As a parent you wonder how they keep up, but it all works out. As an employee it's nice not losing that 2-1/2 months of pay during summer. During testing when we were a year round our scores were much higher. For kids, it did kind of suck being in one grade on Friday and another on Monday. But hey it kept them out of trouble. With all the budget cuts in California I'm surprised we meet the min. of 198 days. If you have the option take the year round.

She is perfect! I have a 9 month old little girl that is the apple of my eye. She already has me wrapped around her tiny finger.
