What is my 1 Rep max?

I dont do flat bar work for bench, only dumbells

I normally start my chest workout with incline db's at about a 30degree angle.

I can currently do 100s for a full 7 reps. I get a push up to start and then finish out 7 reps (i dont count the first as a rep because someone helped push me up).

I dont bring the db's all the way down to my chest, if i was laying flat i would go to my arms just below parallel to the floor.

Anyone have an idea what my max should be on flat bench? i dont really care that much but i am kind of interested.

To be honest, there is just absolutely no way to accurately estimate.....people differ so much in terms of leverages and actual setup on a flat bench etc, etc......I know you're just curious and this isn't the answer you wanted, lol, but there is just no way to estimate..........even if you flat benched tomorrow for a single, it isn't truly accurate because you need to acclimate yourself to the lift....you could very well "increase" your barbell bench by 50lbs in a month just because you got acclimated to it and developed better neural efficiency on the lift.

basically, thats why i asked lol... i know it would take at least a month before i even thought of being on equal footing with my db presses.

its just a difference in the movement that takes time to adjust to.

I was thinking it would probably be in the high 200's

but ill just tell people 315 lol

... there's a thread around here somewhere with some great comebacks to people asking questions just to judge you in the gym, or out of the gym :)
 
Here's a post with some calculators for 1RM, but like T said it's not going to be completely accurate. I can't give you any feedback on how accurate they are because, honestly, I've never tested 1RMs or cared much about calculating them (except to convert to other maxes for program setup). The fact that I have a home gym and don't have to deal with "hey bro, how much can you bench" inquiries might have something to do with it, too. ;)

EDIT: lol, sarge, I didn't even see your post bashing the "how much can you bench" guys while I was typing mine.
 
if anyone asks you your bench max, just tell them 600lbs. It doesn't matter what the number is, they still did more than you back in highschool (before that damn shoulder injury they got trying out for the NFL)
 
lol dude... i know a guy JUST like that!

on another note... i guess i really dont care about my 1RM anyway...I dont think in my life i have even attempted it... i usually only go to a minimum of 4 reps... ah well

ill be huge in another life! :)

Yeah. I did 605 yesterday, with a broken arm. But I haven't tried to max out in years. :)
