By no means did I mean any offense it's just that some people put so much emphasis on how much they can lift meanwhile they have the shitiest form I have ever seen.

There are guys that look @ me funny when i pick a 35lb dumbells and do seated curls with impecable form, it's all in how you isolate that muscle and cause it to contract. You probably already know that but now it's said so the younger guys can learn from this thread.

Keep up the good work Boys!! :chomp:

none taken man, not at all--- i get funny looks to when i do my curls i only use 35-40s depending. isolated curls are my weakpoint but my arms are fairly big.

I know form matters.... but how often should you increase weight. I currently do a moderate weight that I fail around 10-12 reps but with proper form. I have read a lot saying after 4-6 weeks to increase weight and decrease reps, but in the past when I have done this I have felt as if the quality of the workout has gone down.. Should I keep failing at the 10-12th rep or should I add variety and mix up the weight and reps every 4-6 weeks..

Thanks

Me too!

I am still only 20 and have lifted since I was 16, however, I ask what may appear to be "silly" questions just to make sure that my training is in check because a lot of it I have picked up on my own and want to be educated before making a mistake at this age with AAS

Not silly at all!!

1st off, as soon as you can do 10 reps fairly easily with an exercise increase the weight, once increased you should be able to do between 5-8 reps nicely until once again you get to 10 reps and up goes the weight!

2nd, you should be rotating your exercises every 6-8 weeks to inhibit your body getting used to the movements and specific strain, that also goes for your cardio routines also.

Good luck my friend!!!

if you have been training for a while with 10-12 rep sets-- try switching to the good ole 5x5 routine.. that will up your weights FAST.. and add some thickness to you

Hey EGO,
A maximum bench doesn't really say much about who you are, what your capabilities are, what your goals are, or how much you have worked to get to a 405 bench.
I'm 51. Up until a car accident a few years ago I could bench 435#. Does that sound impressive for a guy my age? What picture do you have of my appearance? What are you thinking about my other capabilities or who I am or how hard I work?
The truth is that I get strong very quickly. I leg pressed the 1500 max on a press machine for 25 reps with no problem. I can still do that, but my max bench is down. I no long care about my max bench, because it's not part of my goals anymore.
What you don't know about me is that I'm also a vegetarian who at 6'5" and about 360#, has struggled with fat for a long time. I look like a big guy at about 27%BF, but I don't look well put together yet and that is my biggest issue.
Every guy on this board has his own struggle and his own goals. Succeeding past those goals to find the highest personal level of success feels a lot better than discovering where you compare on a single stat.
If your bench of 405# took you a lot of effort that you maintained to reach, then congratulations on your success, but what's more important is what is your greatest goal and how are you achieving that every day.

Mike
