Dang matt, I make under 300k and have custom house, wakeboard boat, 2 new cars, 3 motorcycles and take 6 to 8 vacation ie motorcycle rallys and trips with the family. You need to learn how to budget better.

All depends on how you budget yourself, and how you like to live. Do you eat out alot? Do you buy unnecessary crap?

I would say me with a wife, 2 kids, my custom house on the beach in California, and a few cars. I need to make at least $350k a year. I plan on it.

DC metro area...somewhere around base salary of $150K you can live pretty well as a as a single guy. Pretty well meaning: nice town house or small single family home well outside the city, a decent car (under $45K) but not two, can easily afford to go out etc. Lavish expenses are out of the question, though.

Well, you probably have a point on the first sentence and I have tried to up that this year. On the second one, you don't budget? I mean I don't have a set budget but I don't finance anything(other than my house) and I don't buy stupid stuff like expensive clothes. I only buy pratical stuff like more custom parts for my motorcycles.
