Theres alot of ways to make your mark on the gym, from pictures on the wall, plaques with names of records, and many others, but what about the every day life of a gym rat. The reason I say this is because I have been a member to my gym for 5 years, and have seen almost every type of lifter come through the doors from wanna be to doin it, from novice to expert and everything in-between. When a person comes in the door and you get that first glance of them peeping them out what earns respect points for that individual the most. The Form? The Weight? The Drive?

For me personally its the attitude (swag) of the individual. I have trained many people, and the people that are most willing to learn and grow and don't mind their form or different points being corrected are the people that I respect the most.

Drive impresses me. If some one is there every day going 100% and I can actuallt watch them make progress it impresses me more than some big guy throwing around heavy weights.

It's a mixture for me. I like seeing good form, but good form without heavy weight doesn't impress me very much. Likewise, someone throwing around heavy weight isn't as impressive to me as someone throwing around that same weight with good form.

At the same time, it also has to do with physique and size as well. But the physique without the strength doesn't impress me either.

Can you tell I'm not easily impressed? hehe

Definitely heart,,drive and determination.

Arnold wasn't mucho and yet everyone loved him and respected him, he was funny, sometimes acted childish... very great guy tho

Attitude.. Putting back weights.. Willingness to learn from others..

Everyone starts from the begininning.

I think its a mixture of things lol, I tend to judge people first on size tho. In my opinion you loose respect tho if your huge and lift shitty weights and poor form, and you gain it if your small but seem to be hittin the big weights and good form. In the gym but you respect the people in theyre killing themselves and the people who respect each other by keeping the gym in shape, you loose respect from me if your in the gym with a phone or untidy.

for men in no particular order

1. guys who run on the treadmill for 5+ miles without stopping (giving some love to the endurance athletes here, i still think lifters bag more women though in the end :)
2. guys who are muscular
3. guys who put up a lot of weight

for women

1. regulars (meaning women who are in there ED or EOD)
2. ones that aren't scared to occasionally workout in the meathead section
3. ones that can crank off 5+ miles on the treadmill
