I tried posting this on the chat board but those people arent' interested in anything but their crowd.
My girlfriend went to Euro fitness, a new gym, to check how they are. Well, every cardio machine had 200 channel digital cable tv's on the machines and internet access on them. computer operated machines, 20,000 sq ft gym, touchscreen machines, and 100 types of cardio machines. The total price for my girlfriend and I was $1380 per year. What the fuck is that?? Sorry about the profanity but that is ridiculous. We are totally happy with our piece of shit paramount gym that costs $40/month for both of us. What do you guys think?? Do you actually pay that much just for a gym?

I pay $29 at Gold's, newer members pay $49 but I am locked in at that price. Went to Vegas last Feb. and a one year renewal there was only $100, felt like I was getting ripped off. All I need is for my partner to plug his laptop in and start downloading porn while spotting me.

I'm at LA Fitness now... The gym is overcrowded for sure, but the price is right. My buddy and I got a deal where we only pay about $20 a month. If it wasn't for that I'd probably be at Bally's because it's not such a zoo at night. The Q club out here is the nicest/most high tech facility we have and it's SO damn expensive, I could never afford a month there.

This is the truth tough....I am sad to say. I have travelled a WHOLE throught Europe (hell I was born there) and through Asia (mostly Japan). ALL the fucking technology (including those that we develop) go into practice there first. Bullshit on the bells and whistles post....200 channel TV on your cardio KICKS ASS. You dont have to get a crick in your neck to watch a TV on the ceiling. Internet access is even better...

Just think...you could be on Elitefitness WHILE you are in the gym!

yeah I hear you! not so much about the money but all those high tech cardio machines and shit here in Copenhagen there are opening a new super modern 45,000 sq ft fitness center (Mike Tyson trains there ATM.) they got all these fancy fitness machines there must be 3 different kind of everything BUT there dumbbells only go to 65 lbs and no benches and no squat rack no nothing but lame fitness mashies hate that shit

I work out at a little hometown gym. It's a little sweat shop. NO SNOBS!! $159 a year..... NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD PAY $1380 a year... screw that.

It all depends on the size of the market. It does not matter that you pay $40 a month what matters is how many people are paying that $40 a month.

Also, could the gym have some funding a maybe a non profit organization.

We have a fitness center in our area, which does not cater to body builders but there facility is 10 times anybody elses. This fitness center is back by the pope. It is part of a catholic hospital. this make the other gyms look bad but the other gym owners have to make money.

I used to train at a gym that was full of nationally ranked powerlifters and level II bodybuilders. It was dark, not real clean, almost no machines, and the women were car chasers, and damn do I ever miss that place.
It's closed so now I train in a yuppie gym where half my warm up is pushing the fat lawyer off the station before I can use it.

I pay $99 a year for Gold's Gym and my job reimburses me $250 a year for working out. So they pay for the gym and I get some extra cash.

Shit try to join a gym in NYC, they go for at least $1200 a year and the New York Sports Clubs around here in Long Island are close to $900 and most of the time shit gyms. I train at Golds and dont even pay half of that and have an excellent facility plus crazy publicity since alot of top ranked Pros and National level guys and girls train here too.

I get a free membership to gold's by the apartment I stay at. I usually go to another hardcore gym every now and then and it is only $30/month. I would never pay over that!
