I was wondering because i believe, cant be sure but i think the bench i have has a max of 500lbs including the person and im almost past its limit but i really cant afford a new one right now i heard some people say it might flip over im just wondering if one day im lifting and the thing just breaks instantly killing me? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

he means the actual bench, so it would be plus his bodyweight too..

depends on the quality of the bench i would say..I've seen 300lb men bench over 700 at the gym I go to..

ya this is plus my body weight no 500 for me i would say its a pretty good bench its made by pro form anyone have experience with there benches?

ohhh... mis read... sorry guys... ya where is your bench in the basement? if it's your house... crew it down with some cement screws or if you know of a welder get him to weld some more steel on it.... imo...

Bro don't screw around with this. While you're pressing the weight upward, the bench is actually supporting more weight than just you plus the bar. The faster you press, the more weight the bench has to support. The point is that you need lots of headroom in this number. Personally I wouldn't bench on anything that wasn't rated for at least a couple hundred pounds over my bodyweight plus what I'm pressing.

Dude dont fuck around. I am a certified welder and cheap benches equal fast slopy welds. Fast sloppy welds= impurities=weak. Even if the entire bench was weldded SOLID and one bead was weak and had no penitration over time it will crack and be a weak point and eventually break. Go to a good lifting store or fitness place and get one that is rated for what you are lifting. Or if you do know a certified welder or exspirenced one Have him build you one. And dont trust the local high school kid...I see guys all the time come and try to work for the shop im at claiming they are "masters" and couldnt sell a piece to wallmart. I wouldnt even want to know what could happen if it broek at the wrong time. Im sure it could put you out of commision for a long time if not fatally somehow. Crazy shit happens.
