What happened to this guy?

I purchased a Sony Playstation 2 from this guy from a "Buy it Now" auction during the last week of August. The guy had a perfect feedback record of 100% when I purchased it.

He never responded to my emails and I had already paid immediately after auction end. I had to go through Paypal to get my money back so I didn't lose anything other than the insurance I bought.

He now has 21 negatives (should be 22 since one guy accidently left positive instead of negative) and is "No longer a registered user".

I just don't understand what happened to this guy to all of sudden become a scammer.

He must have died.

wow weird.. maybe he did die.. how much was the buy it now for?

Sorry about that....It was a Sony Playstation 2. I was buying it for my niece in college.

$129.99 free shipping.

Always remember, cheaters never win, and winners never cheat.

Oh yeah, and always wear clean underwear, you never know when you might get in an accident.

And don't play with bb guns in the house, you could put an eye out.

I think that about covers it. ;)

well good thing you got ure money back.. that's pretty lame that people scam like that.

did it come w/ accessories and games? cuz u can buy a new one in the store for 129.99 i think if not cheaper

They are $149.99 around here at WallyWorld.

This came with two controllers and it was a slimline model.

Don't know much about them to be honest.

My niece had a party at her place in college and someone stole her roommates Playstation. She didn't have the money to replace it so I was trying to help her out.

damn your a nice uncle... i forgot the slim ones r more expensive.. that's a good deal cuz controllers r like 40 bucks

A friend of ours was selling Jordan's on Ebay. He was a powerseller selling like 3,000 items a month, on track to clear well over 200K this year on Ebay alone. He had almost 100% feedback, numbering well over 100,000 transactions. On the last shipment, his order filler shipped out FAKE Jordan's to his winning bidders. They trashed his feedback (rightfully so) and he lost a hell of a lot of money. He has had to start completely over.

You never know.... this guy could have had a family emergency... could have died... his source could have bailed on him (most don't have the items "on hand" - they are shipped from middlemen or warehouses)... any number of things.

glad you got your money back.

Or a dumb one...lol

My nephew is at college also and is trying to make it on the golf team. He was playing in a little intersquad tournament and his driver broke.

He called me and asked me if I had an extra one. I didn't. I asked him what he wanted. He wanted a Titleist Driver, so I bought him one on ebay that looked prectically brand new.

I get suckered into these things all the time....lol

I can see how that can happen.

This guy didn't even communicate with any of his sellers. If I am dealing with a person with a lot of transactions and a near 100% feedback, I don't mind paying right away after the end of the auction.

I waited about three weeks and after another buyer communicated with me to see if I had received anything from him, I decided to start the process of getting my money back.

Takes 10 days after you file to receive the money from paypal.

I trust too many people though. I have only lost once on ebay since 1999.

Something bad must have happened to him though. He doesn't live near the coast so a hurricane didn't get him. Guess I'll never know.

Thanks Jack. I do what I can.:)

he either died or left town. Did you ever get a playstation?

Maybe he was selling his Playstation 2 because he just got the new XBox360 and while he was packaging up your order, the Xbox overheated and burnt his house down.

LOL. How is the new baby doing?

Anthony is doing great.
24 days now ... flying by.
Got peed on a couple of days ago so I guess this means I have been christened. :D
He's here with me now, fast asleep.
I'm sure he is scheming on other ways to ruin my clothes before I head out to work in the morning.
I've been on a few times but it is usually very early when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep.

The best news is that I am getting regular sex again. :D

Wow, so almost a month old already. Time flies, before you know it you'll be taking him for his first day at school :) Glad to hear you, your girl, and the baby are doing well. :)

Forget that ... I'm taking him to the gym.
He really needs to develop his upper body if he wants to hit the kitchen wall with his porrage every morning.

Nicole is doing great too. Slowly getting back into shape.

Thanks Jaded :D

Great news KIAN. Sounds like everyone is adjusting well.

people get their ebay accounts hijacked ALL the time. How many times do you get an email saying "we need to verify your account" and there's a link to a FAKE ebay site?
I get them ALL the time.

one of the things the scam artist do is get into those accounts, and then sell stuff, using the real person's great feedback. they take all the money, and then split- leaving the real person liable.

ebay often closes auctions when they suspect this has happened, but they might not know.

Would eBay notify the buyer if something like that happened?

This guy had a 100% feedback when I bought it and then everything went downhill from there.

Hard to believe someone would do something like that on their own. I did get my money back and bought one from Walmart.

well ebay wouldn't know. Its like, if someone gets your credit card and uses it all over the place. your credit card company wouldn't know it wasn't you. they might notice an aweful lot of activity, but ebay wouldn't notice a bad deal or two
