Im a late night lifter, sometimes i get home its Usually around 9pm, and im starving after working out.

Right now im trying to loose the little bit of fat that is left in my mid section and gain some strength all around.

Basicly just get into better sape is a simple way to put it.

what food could I could I eat at that time of night ?

ZERO carbs....

Low Fat Cottage Cheese is perfect because it sort of acts as a "time-released" protein.

Throw in another Lean Protein like Tuna

he is right.what ever you do at this time of night do not eat any carbs of any kind.stick to protein only.chicken no skin, tuna, shakes with protein only, meat and things like that are best.

try and time your carbs early in the day and pre and pwo....anpb, almonds, cottage cheese are all good sources of healthy fats and protein before bed.

I lift at night too.

You can definetly have carbs after you workout, I prefer sweet potatoes, brown rice, ect... complex carbs.

then if you have time before you sleep if it's a few hours later like myself then i eat again.. just protein and fat meal.

if your macros are on point, you'll loose weight.

Nixing carbs when you train at night is an absolutely horrid idea.....Keep them high! I train and finish about 6pm...I am usually crashed out by 930 or 10.....I am eating 100-200 carbs between 6 and 10......carbs are not the devil!!!!!!!11

i agree carbs are not the enemy...but when i eat carbs in that quantity late at night...i am def not as tight the next day then i am when my last meal is sans carbs. there are def 2 sides of this debate...

I find that carbs will leave me hungry, while cottage cheese or almonds will hold me over until I fall asleep.

It really does go both ways though.

exactly..being tight is just because your body is more carb depleted..as soon as you eat your breakfast you aren't as tight either. Should we avoid carbs at breakfast as well?

i don't eat carbs at night when im cutting either, just because i know i don't need them..but if you are working out at night it is essential to get the carbs back in, imo.

i'm always in stage...

carbs are for energy...and i don't need energy at 9:30 at night. this is why i eat them at specific times. if he lifts late then yes...he needs to get those carbs in pwo...but an hour after that...if your cutting ...you should be eating protein + fat and 0 carbs!

poysyn- there is a huge difference in eating a bowl of pasta before bed and eating one in the am when you wake. those carbs get stored away as fat and not utilized as energy...you know this

Why is everyone always so stuck on a specific time of day NOT to eat carbs?

If you lift at 9PM, you NEED carbs after your workout, plain and simple. The key is not overeating carbs at that time, and eating the right kind of carbohydrate.

I lift at night, do the carb/protein thing immediately post workout, and again hour and a half or so later, but this time with a low GI carb, like basmati rice, whole wheat pasta, or sweet potatoes.

If I get my workout in a little earlier in the day, then I shift a protein fat only meal to before bed, after my 2 standard post workout meals. For me, it's all about what time I lift, not what time it says on the clock.
