My manifestation is more panic oriented. I get light headed and I think I am going to collapse or have a heart attack. Seriously, I have honestly thought that my there was something wrong with my heart. A healthy guy in his 20s who is serious about fitness and has low cholesterol.

General anxiety is just a sucky feeling about the world. You can't relax. But it's more insidious.

dry mouth, sweaty palms, racing heart, lack of concentration.

+ physical tension to the point of discomfort, cloudy thinking, numbing out to other emotions (all you feel is the anxiety, nothing else),

Different triggers and symptoms are characteristic of different 'types' of anxiety.

But one underlying theme for treating anxiety problems is acceptance. Accepting the anxiety.

When you begin to accept anxiety feelings when they're experienced, and not fight it, the anxiety begins to melt. Often times, recovery is a lot more complex because most people have a host of belief systems and thought patterns that only serve to reinforce their physical anxiety.

The anxiety itself then becomes really just a symptom of a larger problem. Takes time though.

paxil can be highly addictive, cause alot of weight gain and be expensive. Maybe you should try something else first.

Go do some cocaine, caffiene and meth and get back to us.

Bingo. Do way too much coke, have a fantastic freak out, and you won't wonder anymore. It's a very helpless feeling I find. I would think of it in terms of the fight or flight mentality. When presented with a stressful situation, anxiety tends to emphasize the flight response. As the anxiety worsens, it takes most of your energy to control the flight response and force yourself to not look like a complete weirdo and break out into a full on sprint in any direction.
