No they don't need to be the reason the blue is so sparkly is it is done in a hologram velvet if you look close there is minimal stones hence the great price. For some reason they don't offer the one piece in that material I am going to call and find out why. If I can get the one piece in the holograhm I think I will do it in the hologham black. I have tried the criss cross tops and they seem to work for me. Make my shoulders appear wider which is good cause my legs can tend to over power. The onie piece is only $122. Check out her site I am very impressed no only is she well price but the suits have a great quality finsh to them. http://www.bonitadress.com/

I like the blue MUCH better. But again, be careful with velvet - it can make your middle look thicker because it doesn't typically lay smooth on the body, plus it is a thicker fabric.
