What do you think my max is?

I weight about 155lb and am about 7% bodyfat. I've like never benched, but I always hear people going around saying what their bench max is...I tried to see how many push-ups I could do the other day and I did 75. I figured that might be some indication of what my max is, because it seems like that same kind of movement and motion as benching.

That is no indication. No one will be able to give you an accurate estimate. Go to the gym and bench, thats the only way you will be able to tell or atleast give us enough information to make an educated guess.

its probably like 190, but on the other hand you may just have short arms and are very skinny which allow you to do so much pushups, and doing body weight exercises good doesn't mean you can lift weights good unless you are a gymnasts where most gymnasts who have trained more then 10 years and never weight lifted before end up benching twice their bodyweight. My dad is 5ft 4, 146 lbs, 5% bodyfat and he can do 100 pushups and max bench 240 pounds.

i highly doubt your pops is 5% BF...

Ok, ok thanks for the help...but I heard that alot of benching is also to do with tecnique and breathing so my first couple times probably won't be a great indicater as to what my max is. But hopefully it's at least my body weight at some point (155). I should go to the weight room at my school in like a week or so and I'll try to max out when I'm there. And I'll post my outcomes on here.

I would start at 405 and work up from there. Collars and spotters optional
how many spotters? :)

i never squatted, so one day i took the stairs to get to the office - 9 floors + the basement x30 steps = 300 steps. so now i figure i can squat 1200 without a spotter... i just shift my ass a little and i'm done.

I'm talking about bench here...

go with your dad and bench. That's the best calculator you'll find

dude, 155, 7% bf...probly a kid.. Never benched before.. I would say 160 at most :worried:
shit when I started out I had struggled with 65lbs on bench... he'd have to be quite naturally strong to have a 160lb bench to start, IMO.

Good luck... post your results so we can help other people and create a formula for figuring out bench from push ups :)

My little cousin is 13 yrs old, about 5', Like 110lbs or so, he benched 160, I was surprised lol. Is that good, it seems pretty good to me. He doesn't lift weights or anything he's just always done sports, wrestling and football, which does help some.

yeah, that's fantastic. Strong tendons on the little bastard, just like my little bro (13 years old).

my dad is 5-7% bf year round...he runs 1-2 times a day and weight trains.....he eats like a normal person even less like 2 times a day....he's been training since he was 16....thats 24 years of constistent training

Yes he would have to be naturally strong, but he says he can do about 75 push ups so ill give him the benefit of the doubt that hes not totally weak :artist:

Yah, well I did a new record for me, and I did 83 pushups last week. I tried to bench the other day and I maxed out at about 145lb, but it's alot to do with technique and once I get that down, and breathing correctly I think I'll be able to do alot more.

Very nice.

You'd probably be a very strong bencher if you trained it properly and ate like you meant it.

Sweet...that's awesome...and the other deal is that I don't have a bench at my house...I just want a plane bench...simple as that. I think after the xmas season...if I don't get one. I'll get one off ebay. Cause I rdy got the weights and stuff.
