What do I need to test 'stuff' myself?

I am interested in learning about testing powders/gear on my own without having to send it to someone else....

Does anyone have any idea on what I might need? Money is not too much of a problem... Just need to know what I need.

Do I need a Gas Chromatagraph Mass Spectrometer?

your cheapest alternative is an electrothermal melting point apparatus about $600-850 on a standard model, a little more for for extra features,i use the term alternative loosely, does not signify an valid analysis on its own to HPLC,,,GC and Mass spec. Amount of product needed for this apparatus is minimal(less than a pinch( not a scientific term but it gets the job done) , basicly melting point is better than nothing, but if you are good like me i can tell the difference in the smell, for about 7 different steroids/ prohormones. Very easy to tell the difference in smell between the androstenediol's and androstenediones, and 17 alpha methyl steroids(creates less potent diol smell (who knows i may suffer from dellusions yet to be determined by DSM-IV-TR criteria)

Here is the deal... I will look into the electrothermal MP App, but I would really like to be able to know the mg/ml and what not of a given product..... Tired of always 'guessing' and estimating potency, dammit! LOL!

What is HPLC? I will look it up online, but maybe you know more about it personally?

you will not be able to determine the mg/ml of a vial/tablet at home. it takes experience with analysis procedures and the preparation, and most importantly lots of expensive chemicals and equipment. these chemicals are not easy to obtain. they require permits and liscense, if you do try and order certain chemicals you will be flaged by the government and will be investigated without even knowing it(especially now after 9/11. HPLC is high performance liquid chromatography
