What can you do with found money?

Say the following happens:

1.) You check your bank account. You notice that somehow, it has 120 million dollars more than the last time you checked, you don´t know where it comes from.

2.) You find a briefcase in an empty parking lot. You take it with you. At home, you find out it contains what has to be at least 10 million dollars in cash.

3.) You find a briefcase and take it with you. In it, you find what looks like an exceptionally huge treated diamond.

Where the hell do you take these things? How do you keep it from the IRS? How do you keep it from the police? How the hell do you sell a huge damn diamond if you´re not "in" with the business?

In scenerio 1 can you open an account in like venezuela or switzerland just like that? The bank could find the flaw any minute.

In 2 do you just keep it in a vault in your house and spend it as you go, saving up your normal salary? Can you deposit that stuff?

3 I guess you´re just totally screwed. There´s probably like 5 buyers for such a thing in the world.

It´s more likely than winning the lottery. but that´s not saying much.

I thought of it because, a woman in Holland last year found the bank had deposited not her interest to her bank account, but a sum of money the size of her bank account. They made a deposit of

Euro 36.792.786 to her bank account #367.92.786

She called up the bank that same minute and told them they´d made a mistake :worried:!!!

It´s not a hoax they had a representative from the bank discuss the incident on the evening news.

#1, forget it, if the money disappears from your account, you're liable.
#3, forget it, no way to get rid of the stone, except at your local pawn shop, unless you have seedy connections.
#4, you should be safe as long as you don't try to deposit it. The banks track certain account activity parameters and notify the police if anythings suspicious.

If i found money and i can figure out where it came from without doubt.. return it.. if i cant keep it.. pple will say its theres because pplr scum

You can typically only buy minor goodies in cash. You could buy food and clothing and gas and maybe some jewelry etc etc with it for a long time though and just save all your salary up.

I know a guy who would buy 7 digit yachts in cash in briefcases. I guess he´s being completely illegal-?

3) Treated diamonds are common and a large stone can easily be cut into several smaller stones.
