What bench shirt would you recommend?

I'm just starting out seriously with Powerlifting, and I will probably be looking to buy a bench shirt before too long. What is a good shirt to start off with?

First decide what federation you will compete in and find their rules for a shirt, then decide how much you want to spend and how much weight you think you will put on you and your bench. After all that I can say Inzer has some very good shirts in poly and denim, I have a Dble denim cut up the back and have used it in my last three meets and have finally realized if I gain a little weight it seems to work even better, now I am at the limit to not gain any more. The shirt still looks nearly brand new so that is a plus also. Also a shirt that works very good for you will be like the holy grail, once you seem to find one you blow it out or out grow it and am searching again. But when they work :D look out!

I will probably be lifting APA, since they seem to be the only federation to have meets around here. Their shirt rules:
-Polyester or Denim
-Up to 2-ply
-No canvas
-Velcro/open back allowed.

My current max bench is about 280, but I hope to bring this way up.

Train your tri's like a mad man and start out with a double poly or single denim and work your way up, don't bother with a single poly. I have trouble getting 545 to even touch in my dble denim.

Which would you recommend, the double-ply Inzer heavy duty Blast shirt, or the Titan Fury shirt?

If you aren't going to go with a denim, and are deciding between the dlb HD and the Titan Fury, I'd go with the Fury. The new NXG+ Fury may be out this month sometime.

Titan Fury, its the cheapest and it doesn't fuck your groove up as much as a double D or a Inzer poly will.

Get it the same size as your chest, if you have a 48" chest, get a size 48 shirt.

Thanks for the info. What fit do you think I should get?

You may want to try the meet fit. My brother benches in the low 300s and couldnt get anythign below 365 to touch with a comp fit.

Single ply denim is a waste of time. I have blown too many to waste time with it. Inzer currently will not sell single ply denim with radical cut, because they blow too easy.

Double denim is better than single because it will not blow as easy. A tight single denim is just strong as a tight double, except the double is less prone to blow. Denim is all about fit.

The idea with velcro is that it allows you to get in the shirt. The top portion of the of the shirt closed.

If you want to go with denim, you can. I can guarantee you will have to go bigger than your actual measurements to get anything within your capability to touch.

For a beginner, the Fury would be a no brainer. Less money to invest...easier to fit...more flexibility in how its sized, etc. The choice is ultimately yours.

Thanks for the advice. I am planning on going with the Fury, whenever I buy one. Might be a little while though.
