Small gathering here at the homestead.

I've got several bottles of a Petit Syrah and a crown roast on order from the butcher - I have no idea what else I'm going to cook, whatever looks good in the veggie isle will have to be the winner.

And just because I can't get enough - pumpkin pie.

Since it has been one of the worst years for us and the fact that we're tired of not being able to give anything to anyone on christmas again, we've decided to stay at home and have christmas by ourselves. If people want to see us, they have been told to come to our house. We're gonna cook a small christmas meal for the two of us and enjoy each other rather than the hustle of going to visit family.
 
OK so Xmas Eve I fly from DC to Chicago where my son and I will spend the Evening partying dago style with my Dad's familia - home made ravioli, gravy, meatballs, etc, lots of wine (mostly red) and champagne, and we also pass around a different flavored bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 every year and everyone takes a sip, even the children (it builds character).

My son and I spend the night at my parents' house and in the erly morning we wake up and he opens presents from Santa, then we open presents as a family (my immediate family including bros, sister, parents and nephew/niece). We eat fritatta and homemade cinnamon bread for breakfast. Then my son's dad picks him up and off he goes to the Polish side of his family for god knows what (probably a 6 pack of Old Style and some Polish Sausage). I then drive with my immediate family up to Wisconsin where we celebrate with my mom's family (norwegian, english crowd) and we eat the exact same fucking meal we just ate 4 weeks ago on Thanksgiving. Bland as hell too.
The next day I fly back to DC and have sex with my husband.
 
We have our annual family get-together at my sister's. Some relatives I only see once a year but it's great to catch up.
 
just a small family gathering, my parents and my borther, his wife and daughter at my parent's place. some traditional Greek food. It's heading for 37 here on Christmas day so will be a hot one
 
Home Alone w/ the following: A 2006 Calendar, several red & blue pens, bottles of champagne, rented black & white movies, garbage bags to start emptying my apartment. That's it as of right now.

That's my big gripe about Christmas - it should be about celebrating life not giving gifts because you have to.

Flip side is - nothing is better than a romantic meal at home with someone you love.

ill be on elite christmas day so pop in we can chat and keep each other company k
 
trying to make up excuses as to why I can't go to my parents' house til Saturday, then sitting thru my sister's hysterics at not being able to handle cooking an Xmas eve dinner, then heading to my best friend's house (as I do every year) to drink homemade wine and sing Sinatra all night long. then a quiet dinner on Xmas with my immediate family minus my sister then getting the hell outta there as fast as possible.
 
Friends on christmas eve.

made every excuse why i can't be at my fathers till noon on christmas day.. have to drive my sister and her boyfriend to the next city and then i told my father i have to be at a charity function for 6am on the 26th so we could leave by 8pm :)
 
Christmas Eve at my parent's house. Christmas Day at home. New Year's Eve at one of the best french restaurant at there plus a good bottle of Veuve Clicquot once we get home.
 
To be with family and reminesce.
