What are your current goals?

I'm not talking about just weight/bodybuilding related goals. Any goals that you have...what are they?

Do you feel like you have to have goals?

And are you the sort of person that achieves your goals or are you the sort of person that sets them but doesn't really get there?

Unfortunately I'm the latter but making a big effort to change since I've met a few people that have the sort of motivation that i really admire.

And i thought people into fitness were generally mtivated people.

besides bodybuilding goals...

today I'm studying to get my real estate license, not because I want to sell houses, but because I want to be able to keep all or part of the commission when buying investment properties.

I have hired 2 mentors that are walking me through my first few deals, they been in this business 19 years. I also have a friend who has just taken the plunge and started his own company. my goal is to learn this business well enough in the next 6 months that if I wanted to I could leave my job and always be able to make it on my own, so I'll never have to feel like a slave to my boss again.

I too have found lots of people who have my same motivations, some successful already and some just starting out.

there are certain goals I set that I end up procrastinating on.. like cleaning the apartment haha :)

what are your goals and what efforts have you made to change?

First post(kinda)

I don't really accomplish goals to well, but I'm seriosly trying to amp up right now and complete my goals. I think I'm doing well, but only time will tell. I have to see the rewards I think, and maybe after I get some goals done it will be easier. Kind of like when you start out drinking and you can't stand the taste, but then the first time you get drunk you realize the rewards(well, the temporary ones anyway), and it gets easier because you know what you want.

Kind of like what 2Pac did. He would draw or get pictures of what he wanted to accomplish and he would show the rewards on them and he would hang them up across from his bed.

I have had a goal of making over 225K per year for the last two years and it has not come through each year (no fault of mine though, one hospital held out until Jan 1st the first year and I missed my goal because of that and then the second year I had a 60K stolen from me and screwed over)

So I decided to re-evaluate my goals and set an attainable level. I chose 400K this year because I had a highly profitable idea for a new business venture, however that has not come to fruitation because I have ran into problems (not my fault here either) that threw major obstacles into my way.

So....

I still have the goal of retiring for good at age 40. (11 more years).

I also want to built another house from the ground up in the near future so I can have a bigger space for my own home gym. (and have that said house featured in Arch. Digest like my current one was before)

I want to go sky diving (but procrastinate too much to drive down to Miami and do the buddy sky-dive thing)

I want to eventually have a summer house in a cooler climate (like Montreal)

Visit New Zealand and get the $10 Mr Muscle owes me.

Physically:
-Weigh 190 @12%
-1000 pound club.

Education/Career:
-Promotion to Corporal.
-BS in Finance or Marketing.
-AS in Accounting
-AS in Logistics.
-Finish my apprenticeship as a Pumper-Gauger.

Sports:
-Win the base roller hockey championship. We lost in the conference finals in OT this season.

You have still been relatively successful though, no? That's because you set your goals high. Continue to do so!

They say "Shoot for the Stars, and you may end up with the Moon"

They also say better to shoot for the stars and miss than aim at a pile of shit and hit!

My only suggestion to you is that you comment a lot about how these things weren't your fault. They may not have been, but keep your goal in focus and turn obstacles into opportunities. Have a contingency plan setup in case things don't go quite as planned :) I read your business idea and you are a creative thinker.

I'm to complete and publish a clinical research project by the end of the summer. Two problems, I'm 18 years old with only a first year university background & I have to work from 9-5. Clinical research projects are usually for people who have taken research design and stats in upper year undergrad or masters even. I hope I come through, I'm not liking the looks of it though. If I finish this though, I will be extremely happy. Then I gotta head back to school hopefully not in a state of burnout :). Other than that I hope my CKD cutting comes along well :).

Hey Bro, My goal is simmilar to yours.

I just finished building a condo project. Paid the realtors almost $500,000!! All they did was sit at the open house and set up an appt w/me to go over and sign contracts. And, to be honest all the realtors did was screw things up.

So, this year I am starting a bigger condo project, but I am going to sell them.

The realtors have already begun bad mouthing and threatening us.

hi!

you are a condo developer? $500k in commission is a lot, how many units was it? I work for a high-rise condo/apartment developer right now doing financial analysis, we are building 400 units in Houston and 556 in Long Beach Cali :) 18 stories on the beach!

400 and 556!! Thats big time. Financial analysis is the hard part of my job. But, it's fun to figure out if somthing can work.

The last one was about 40 units with average cost of about $250,000. At 5% commission I paid almost 500K in under 2 yrs. (I know, stupid)

The next one is about twice as large. I'm going to sell them myself. (just means I have to do the open houses on the weekends) I'm good at sales. However, I'm nervous because the realtors are bad mouthing it. But, I think I can do it and pay myself the commission.

PM me or I'll PM you sometime.

My goals for the next 5 years:

Transition (retirement) from the military to great civilian career
Buy another house
Eliminate all unsecured debt
Get two of my kids off to good universities
Best shape of our lives (me & the wife)

A.A. Business - Fall
B.S. Business - Summer - 2006
M.B.A - Spring 08

(that's all part time school, I'm not slow or anything :) ).

and hopefully by then I'll hit my goal of 170@10%..
