It was a complete random purchase in an airport bookstore, but it's really good. synopsis:

it's a true story. a NYT writer was doing a piece on an underground culture of male pick-up artists. these guys had private online forums, held national seminars and had infamous leaders in this underground world. it's really interesting. some of these guys use really in-depth psychological studies and theories in their games.

I'm just now finishing up The End of the Affair (Graham Greene), and I will likely start up on The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (Haruki Murakami).

I'm reading Feast of Crows by George RR Martin (austin- just started it) and Emotional Yoga by Bija Bennett.

"Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. And I just finished a couple of books by Terry Pratchett. "Moving Pictures" and "Going Postal".

Three books by David Sedaris (Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, and Dress Your Family in Cordoroy and Denim) and The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica (collections of erotic short stories edited by Maxim Jakubowski) :p ... BTW, anybody know how to put a discrete cover on a paperback book so I can take these on vacation with the kids  ??? Screw that romance crap, I just like well written smut ;)

Written humor is, I think, even MORE subjective than standup.

I've read some of Sedaris' stuff and have laughed so hard I was crying, I give the same page to my husband to read and maybe he smiles or chuckles, or maybe he shakes his head and goes, "sorry, darlin', doesn't do a thing for me."

Use a paper bag to make a book cover (then you can make your own designs on it so it doesn't look obvious that you are hiding something).

Crochet a book cover like the Muslims do for the Qu'ran. No one will bother you if you look mean at them while reading from it.

Im reading "Becoming an Ironman" by Kara Douglas Thom

a book of personal accounts from a broad range of people finishing an Ironman triathlon for the first time.
