it is my understanding that at the theoretical level facism and Communism are polar opposites. Communism seeks to dissolve political barriers and have a united proletariate worldwide. Facism seeks to instill strong nationalism in its citizens (overlooking financial origins of citizens) and (often) have that nation be the alpha male of a given political bloc. In practice, Facism (especially national-socialism) and "Communism" are very similar: Tools for a totalitarian regime to be headed by one, both are brutally repressive, strongly socialistic and inequalities in both (some people are more equal than others), etc. Makes sense to me.
