What are some things that you don't understand the appeal of?

Here's one of mine:

Antiques. I seriously find that most things "antique" are ugly as hell to begin with, and then most of the time they are scuffed, scratched, missing pieces, don't work properly, etc..
I would much rather have a brand new piece of furniture that is nice and shiny, and the drawers/doors all work properly than an antique that the drawers stick, doors don't shut right, etc.
