What About The Atkins.

I am a littke puzzled, this girl getting ready for the Jr Nationals started a 20 weeks pre-contest diet. she is starting her first 4 weeks with the Atkins diet. what you guys think of this? does anyone think of this as good or bad. I will compete in my first show in September 2002 and I want to put everything together ahead of time. what i like to know is if i shoould do something like this to kick start my pre-contest diet?
 
Atkin's is a ketogenic diet. You're basically allowed NO CARBS at all ( < 20g/day) and your diet becomes all fat and protein. Your body will adjust to this and switch into ketosis, which makes it very efficient for you to burn fat and maintain muscle. It works quite well, I used it last year to lose about 15lb in 2 months.

I'd look into a CKD or cyclic ketogenic diet.
