So a good buddy of mine just called me. He quit his job this morning. He has never drinks and works out all the time. He does however enjoy smoking on the weekends and such.
So here is the thing I guess this girl that works there hates him. She called personell this morning and turned him in for doing drugs. So he gets called in the office and the boss tells him he has to drop for the company. My buddy had to refuse since they dont offer treatment anymore and dirty UA results in termination without unemployment. He had been with the company for three years and is one helluva worker. Never late or anything. I cannot believe that someone would do that. Who the fuck calls like that???? He says he is glad he left cause the place had gotten soo bad lately anyways!
I know he shouldn't had smoked but get fucking real. If its not affecting anything at work I dont see how they can just fire ya?

You think this is bad, wait til marijuana is legalized in 50 states. OMFG it's going to be hillariuos watching Corporate America deal with this!!

They can't force him to leave on a tip from a coworker, they need to get a + drug/urine test.

Unless you're in a state where they can fire you for any reason they see fit. Or if refusing to take a drug test is grounds for termination. Depends on state law.

I wouldnt work for a company that did that and I dont touch drugs

you dont get unemployment for quitting though either, so why didnt he just chance it

Cause he knew he was positive and with a termination due to drugs on your record you will never get a job that does a background check.
It was a double edged sword. Not to mention he still had a weeks vacation left!

He was better off resigning if he knew he was dirty. That does suck that they relied on a rumor to threaten him.

Depending on where he lives that 1 week of vacation might have to be paid out by law (It is in Illinois and various other states).
