So I go to the allergist this morning because I suffer and I mean suffer from allergies. They do the little back prick thing to tell me all the shit that I already told them I was allergic to. Anyway he is like “you need allergy shots”. I’m like, no fucking shit jerkoff. I could have told you that and I didn’t need an 8 year medical degree to do it. Then he is like you have to come in once a week to get them. Negative batman. I travel 100% for my job. I am never home except on the weekends and num nuts is closed. So I tell him to give me the shit and I’ll shoot it myself. You would have thought I had shot the president. He freaks out. NO WAY!! You can’t inject yourself!! There is an 8 in 30 million chance that I would have a reaction and die. Those are his numbers. 8 in 30 million. So basically I am about 3 times more likely to be struck by lightening, twice as likely to win the fucking lottery, and about 200-300 times more likely to get in a car wreck and die on the way to his office to get the fucking shot. What a joke. I should have mentioned that I could just throw it into the 500mg of Omnadren that I’ll be pumping into my ass later on this evening. What a fucking prick.

So does anyone here take allergy shots and inject yourself?

I do not inject myself, but have heard of those who have done this. They'll have to "educate" you on the whole process. You can carry an epinephrine "pin" with you just in that rare 8 in 30 million chance bites you in the ass. That is the worst case scenario, more than likely nothing would happen that a little benadryl couldn't take care of. Just ask them if they could show you how to do it yourself, and they'll maybe ask you to sign a consent form or something releasing them from any liability should you kill yourself.

Regardless of the odds, it is the practice of most doctors to not only make you come in for the shots, but to also make you sit around the office for a bit afterwards to make sure you don't die.

When I went for allergy shots I never had a copay, but they charged the insurance company $17 per injection......it's just too inconvenient to keep going through the whole process.......oops......I forgot.......this is the anabolic discussion board.

i got allergy shots for about 3-4 years and right after i'd get my shot i'd pretend someone was calling me on my cell phone and leave because i didn't want to sit there like a bitch for 30 minutes

Yeah I tried that. I think this guy is just a money hungry prick. They said under no circumstances would they allow it. I am going to search for another allergist that will allow it. In a couple of weeks I will be tested for HRT.
I told my doctor that would not be possible for me to stop in each week for my injection. He said no problem, the nurse will show you how to do it the first time, and then you can do it at home. I'm thinking of injecting right in the gym locker room in front of a cop or two to see their reactions.

Anyway bro I think that you need to find another Doctor.

I have bad allergies but the shots have never done ANYTHING for me.
I have better results off Flonase and Claritin.
If they work you should go see another doc, this one sounds like a tool....

This is a good point, as I have no idea of just how dangerous the allergy shot is. I know each year I get a flu shot and they want you to hang around for a half hour , even though I never do. I would still suggest you get a second opinion if you are unhappy with your present doctor.

i used to take allergy shots and i was never sicker in my life than when i was taking those fucking things. a girl in my office has had a similar experience. started taking shots because she was suffering from allergies and just got sicker.

what i finally found that works for me is a combination of Allegra-D and NasalCrom (OTC nasal spray). i still get allergies twice a year but i can at least make it through now.

there may be competent allergy specialists in this world but i have never met one. i consider the ones i've seen to be nothing but QUACKS... without exception.

I quit taking the shot. I go with Allegra-D, and a nasal spray called Rhinocort. The Flonase caused nosebleeds. As long as I don't run out of the meds I'm in ok shape. My M.D. gave me 11 refills after my last visit. I'm good for a year.

With the litigious atmosphere that medicine is in right now and huge malpractice insurance rates, that doctor cant afford to take a chance by letting you inject yourself. Some doctors are pretty laid back and would be a lot more lenient with their patients if their hands werent so tied.

He put me on 180mg of allegra since I refuse to go to him to get the shots. Not that I wouldn't if I were ever in town but I travel. Hopefully that will work. PEACE
