Welp...I'm doing it. I'm going back to school full time

I've been wishy washy about it, constantly changing my mind the past month but i finally said fuck it. i needed to make a decision (stay in miami and work in an industry i don't have a passion for anymore) or move to a college town and focus strictly on school.
I love this city and i really wanted to be successful in it, but i can always come back when i graduate if i want to. my window for going to school with the folks helping out is going to close. Maybe by then the real estate market will be better and maybe i won't be so burned out from sales.

I'll be moving up to gainesville (where U of florida is) in july. gonna just grind it out...18 credits a semester and try to bang out the last 2 years. i gotta take a couple of classes at community college first (up there).

If i stayed in school here it wouldn't be a real college experience and i'd be constantly tempted by the glitz and glamour of the city. Gainesville is a true college town...cheap, friendly peeps, everyone in the city is young. should be a nice change of pace

just gotta find an apartment now....

Good luck with everything.

haha, i know you were one of my entrepeneurial supporters...but right now i don't have it in me. 3 years of grinding it out with blood sweat and tears and now my industry is completely fucked up.

i gave up my life for the industry and for a woman...and both are gone. i'm completely emotionally exhausted from the roller coaster of it all. I'm amazing at what i do but you can only take so much change

a change of pace and scenery is honestly what i think i need at this point.

I feel stuck right now...and it's a shitty feeling.

what are you going to study and how are you going to support yourself?

marketing.
my folks are helping me out. they always told me if i ever went back to school they'd help me. they were pissed when i dropped out to do mortgages.

There's no way i'd go back if i had to grind it out in school AND support myself. so i figure i take advantage of it while i can. they wouldn't extend the same offer when i'm say...close to 30.

I'll probably personal train(dust off my cert) or bartend..maybe close a loan or two on the side to have pocket money. it's cheap there anyways. a 60 dollar bar night is balling lol

goddamn good for you bro!!! Stick with it! Best move you can make. You're young and you've got plenty of time to make millions yet.

thanks dude...you get it.
that's honestly what was keeping me from doing it for awhile.
I wanted to make money in this city (again) and be succesful and live the high flying miami life. i have such a good time here but you need the income to support it and it sucks when you're not making money here. The highs are amazing and the lows just suck.
i figure i have an entire lifetime to do that. most people don't peak here anyways till late 20's at the EARLIEST or early to mid 30's

i won't have an entire lifetime to go back to college, live a simple relatively stress free life and bang college hoes :)

Best thing you can do to go now. You don't want to be in this position when you're in your 30's. Although you could still do it then, it would likely be a lot more complicated and difficult. I know jnevin would say the same thing!!!

despite being one of the people who said don't bother, i'm glad you are doing this

i am genuinely excited for you. I also expect a weekend invitation. just sayin

Good move rob, no ones ever said they wish they never finished college. Hit me up with any questions, I just went throught the system for a BBA+masters (business) so I know all about returning to school after being an adult for a while.

My favorite game for all the womenz is the LSU vs Florida game we had so much fun partying with all the Florida girls before the game this year. Then they went to the game a lil early and left their ice chest in the open and I took all their booze! lol and we won the game! I may come to the swamp this year but it's a long ride back when you lose.

Puddle I got a great deal for you on a baby crib?

haha well I think you are doing what is best for you right now. Like CEO said you are still young and have time. If the industry you were in wasn't so screwed right now and you weren't so burned out I would say stick with it. I can see right now this would be a good change for you. Hopefully you come back even stronger and wiser. I know you already have the street smarts so come back with the book smarts too and you will be in good shape :) Best of luck! I hope that you get all you want and in a few years you are happy that you made the decision.

I loved college so much. If someone would pay me to be a college student forever, that would be my career choice. I love studying, sipping coffee at the local coffee joint, going to classes, etc. I really miss it.

MS

I gave up on my PhD. I was going to be a direct entry (bypasssing my MS) at USF and had a full ride assistanship. But my father took ill and I stayed home. I got my MS instead since this was as high as I could go without travel.

I only teach part-time but when I retire from being an engineer I want to continue teaching in my retirement years.
