Wellbutrin or Effexor

I went to my school Psychologist yesterday about trying to get some Adderall for concentrating and studying better. However, she will not prescribe it unless I take some expensive test with an outside Doctor. She said that she could prescribe Wellbutrin or Effexor for me. I would like a med that would help control my appetite and enable me to concentrate better. Any ideas which of these would work this way?

I took Wellbutrin (Zyban) to quit smoking once, and it made me want to stop sleeping AND eating. Dear God, it was unreal.

I really don't know - I was only taking it to quit smoking. I just noticed that I had very, very little desire to eat or sleep. I thought it was great at the time.

I don't remember it affecting my work performance or concentration in a negative way, and I took it for about three months.

Wellbutrine will suppress your appitite and releave anxiety but it doesn't motivate a person perse.

My psychologist was going to put me on Wellbutrin for help with anxiety. I was anxious and unable to get things done and the med was supposed to help me. Adderall you should be able to get prescribed to you from your family doc. Tell him that you aren't able to concentrate blah blah blah... make it seem like its become distressful for you and all should be well

As of today, I've been on Wellbutrin for a week for depression. I've noticed that my moods have come up already. I've had some insomnia and night sweats, but this could also be from the d-bol I'm on. So far I give it the thumbs up. As far as concentrating, I've never had that much of a problem. I do love adderrall though, but more as a rec drug. I can say that the effect adderrall has on me is very strong. If you really want to get a good med for focusing, you might want to go ahead and try to get on adderrall. It is some good shit. And you will be one motivated (and talkative) motherfucker.

I forgot to eat and sleep.

All in all....works for me.

I would try Wellbutrin over Effexor... I've heard Effexor withdrawal is bad..

if i miss a dose of effexor (this also happened when i was getting used to a higher dosage) i get REALLY dizzy.

Ive been on Wellbutrin for a year now. I don't think it necessarily helps with concentration, and though it helped with my appetite for a month or so, like anything else my body adjusted and now it doesn't affect my appetite anymore. It made me a little hyper/anxious at first, but that subsided as well. The greatest thing about it is, it doesn't have the sexual side effects that most mood enhancers do, i.e. can't climax. In all honesty, your doc is probably trying to pasify you, hoping its a phase that will pass, and that if you're really serious, that you'll go to whatever lengths to get the drug you really need. Do you think you might have ADD or ADHD? If so, there might be a completely different route for you. Check it out. Good luck!
