Well, I think I Found My Wife a Car BMW 530I for 29k

Man, the car was clean. It is a 2002 with 30k miles on it owned previoulsly by a doctor that took exceptional care of it. Dang, I liked the way it handled the turns. Just for fun I drove one of those 745i man, what a car. It blows away mercedes. It had an aircondition that blew through the holes in the seat. And more electronic stuff then you could imagine which is one of the reasons I wouldn't want it because that stuff will eventually fail. But the ride the of the car was amazing.

Well back to the 530i, I am planning on trading my 03' suburban in on it with about 5k in cash. Hopefully, they will go for it because that car gets 25mph compared to 15mpg on the suburb.
 
you DO know that bimmers don't have the long term reliabiltiy of a lexus?

why spend Big Bucks for a car that will not be 100% reliable?

Please mine is 7 years old w/ 130k ish and runs like it did the first day (not to mention it's in showroom condition) and all I've had to do is routine maintenance.

That's not to say there are lemons out there but that could happen with any manufacturer.
 
In NY the big unspoken joke is that Lexus is the Jewish man's Benz.

I had a 330i for 3 years. did 165.000 kms in that time, no issues (33.000 miles/year)

now I am the proud owner of a 2004 cooper S (tuned though)

I don't know what will be next, but I'm not planning on changing dealers
 
some of us buy a car as a (perceived) status symbol, some of us are ok with our own (perceived) self image.

I have a 328i.

Lexus is a great car but by that reasoning it doesn't make a BMW a sub-par one.

LOL. As far as I can remember the MB was the vehicle of choice for Jewish doctors in NY. The dentist and his MB were inseparable, and then on Rachel's sweet 16 she could drive it too.

Doesn't surprise me that Lexus has assumed that place now. MB has really put out some garbage the last few years, and Jews have less to prove than they did in the 70s and 80s.

(I always wondered how any Jew could drive an MB, after daimler corp used Jews as slave labor, but that was just me. And you should see what Dr. Porsche did to them, but then again, Porsches have never been too big among the Jews.)

Dude, you are funny. I agree the Lexus is probably a more reliable car. But the 2002 530i was consumer report luxery yet sporty car of the year. But, you got to remember who you are talking too. Remember I am the dude that thinks freeway wheelies are second to sex except the std would be worse. I do 145 mph on a chopper. That is unheard of for a american vtwin. So when it comes to car it has got to handle curves good and dude this sucker did. It was fun to drive. Can you say that about lexus?

I had a 2002 Lexus GS for a while - it is a different kind of fun. The Lexus is more fun to go 140 in, the BMW is more fun to take through the slalom.

The 2006 GS (which I have now) is on another level.

See I love twistys and since this is my wifes car i will only use it when we drive out of town mainly to do the twistys. I also heard this car will do 155 is that true velvet?

So what do you like about the 06 lexus gs?

See people give me crap about owning 3 motorcycle. I could afford to own more but I don't want no more crap from my friends. I like bikes the way you like cars. I mean I would love to buy the beamer 1200LT that has the loudest stereo I have ever heard on geezer glide. I would like another sport bike too but like I said I am tired of the comments. Maybe I need richer friends.

The 06 GS combines the road feel that BMW is known for with the luxury that lexus has always delivered. BMWs are fun to drive, but not known for comfort.

The 06 GS also has a lot of electronic toys (nav system, voice activation, blue tooth) that actually WORK (unlike the 06 Acura RL)

I heard the blue tooth really don't work that well with the new beamers either. But it doesn't matter because the 02' doesn't have it anyway. Do you get crap from your friend about your toys too?

The blue tooth is the 06 works on about half of what it is supposed to. It doesn;t work on my Treo.

Everybody breaks my balls about something. yesterday I got dragged to a wine tasting. Would have rather poured bleach into my nostrils.

No doubt that is was to foo foo(that mean hoity toity I think) for me. Micro brewery are my type of liguor tasting parties.

Because it's more fun to drive? Lexus may be reliable, but they have never made a car that is even remotely FUN. There's more to an expensive car than smoothness, quiet, and luxury. And there's more to performance than 0-60 accelleration.

I'm not knocking Lexus. They make excellent real-world luxury cars. But they're not a one-stop shop, their solution is not for everyone. Lexus does not make cars for car enthusiasts, and the two models they offer with some enthusiast leanings, the IS and the GS, have moved more toward the Lexus core values of "soft & smooth" in their newest iterations.

Lexus have achieved state of the art status in two areas of automotive design though -- NVH and reliability.
