Been with the company for nearly 12 years as a bartender and one jerkoff calls the 1-800 number with a complaint, and I'm out just like that. Totally clean record, Not one bad thing in my file in 12 years. Gotta love it.

sorry bro; your skills can be used by others.

interesting they respond to those calls; I'll have to call sometime

Too bad there's no number to call about your shitty posts.

What was the complaint? You shit in his drink or something?

get a real job where the people cant call with one compaint and youre shitcanned.

12 years as a bartender, looks like your employment opportunities may still be good.
Was that job leading to an eventual management position? After 12 years, I mean.... it looks like you would want to be working towards something more...what.....fullfilling, idk. I have a good friend of mine who works at the Elephant in Austin, I guess he's been there 20 years, he's the manager/bartender. Loves it, obviously.....

Were you at Friday's or some shit to have one of those numbers?

You nailed it. Long story short, some kid drank half his beer (22 0z which half equals a free beer pretty much), and decided he didn't like it, thought it was something else. When I was in the kitchen talkin to my mgr and asked her to take it off the bill, she asked why and I said the kid was an idiot. He must have been walkin by and heard me. He called the store later that night and spoke to the same mgr who said she would take care of it. Well that wasn't good enough and he called the 1-800 number. I have a BA and currently studying for the ACE Exam. But I made good money, had benefits, and had lots of friends there. Now I'm fucked.

find him and kill him. It's the only solution.

12 years of good times, good paycheck, you prolly enjoyed it.

time to move on. u want to work in a shitty place like that, that finds you expendable and easily replacable? you're like the old female bartender that gets canned so she can be replaced by a younger hotter faster one.

it's a tough business. but no one ever respects to retire from bartending with a pesnion. i'm surprised u lasted that long.

damn man that is bullshit.

if it was me, I'd take this up with some upper management at the company, they will not want you coming at them with anything resembling a lawsuit for unlawful termination. You likely were employment at will, but depending on the state you are in you can have some legal recourse.

always darkest before the dawn. I have only been laid off once in my life but it ended up being a great thing for me personally. Draw on this not as a setback but as a new begining to motivate you in a positive way.

blessing in disguise, I bet.
true. shouldn't be hard to find a silver lining here. sucks to get forced out of your comfort zone though.

It wasn't my long term career. It payed way better than starting positions I could get with a BA and lots of flexibility. The right bars have a lot of money to be made. I found out where this kid works and his name. Gonna take it from here.

Let it slide. If the kid is enough of a crybaby to rat on you when you got the beer removed from his bill, he's probably enough of a rat to cry to the police or start legal trouble.

dude, u were there for *12 years*. That's a career.

You made bartending your career. You were expecting to be a 50 y/o bartender?

Blessing in disguise. Now, 12 years later, you can finally move on to your 'real' career.

thank that kid. You know what i think of old geezer bartenders, who aren't owners of the bar?

I agree, so not worth it. Don't even look back. Plus i'm sure that place you worked at for 12 years was stale anyways. With a new job always comes some new tail to chase.
