I used to feel like that in HS. Now, I can and do expect almost everyone to leave.

However, some still haven't. Damn that kid of mine.

As for HS, I've still got three good friends that I still keep in contact with.

To be honest, I expected to leave my hs friends. What I'm referring to, for me, is my mom.

Ah. That could be tough depending on the type of relationship that you have with your Mom.

I have a decent "relationship". But, its based more out of honor / respect rather then feeling. Hence, it sets the stage where it's easy for one side to disappear.

To offset this, I ensure that my kids spend time with her. So she can be the grandma that she wants to be and have the feeling that she cannot have with me. I realize that it's up to us to repair it, and that one day one of us will be gone, so we can't say the things that we want to say...but that's life.
