Weighted vests

Can somebody give me some insight on weighted vests, and the proper way to train with them? Also if you do have experience could you recommend a brand?

How you use them depends on you. I use mine for martial arts and just do everything with it on. They're great for running and exercises like dips, pullups, pushups, crunches, etc.

The best one out there I've seen is at www.weightvest.com. You can get the vest off of ebay, but for some reason it's cheaper to buy it off of the site. Another popular one is called the X-vest, but I don't like it as much and I think it's too expensive.

I'd be using it for resistance strength training and for endurance training, running etc. Now my question is how did you progress with it? Do you start at 50lbs and be sore for 2 weeks while your body tries to adjust? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I'm just exaggerating for effect. How did you start off, did you go up by certain increments every week or whatnot? How heavy of a vest did you buy?
 
Never used one but have heard others discuss the pros and cons. If you're using it for endurance, they suggested starting very light and w/ small distances. High potential for small overuse type injuries like tendonitis if you're jogging w/ it.
 
I progressed with mine. I bought it mainly to work on explosive leg strength with martial arts. Jump kicks, stance work, etc. I also use it for pullups, and Dips. I went up by how it felt. I got the 50lb one because I wanted a short one so I could move my torso.
