Weider is selling out...

I know it shouldn't be on this board, but, thought you all might want to know: Weider just put his magazines on the market. Estimated sale prices are between $250 and $350 million. Interestingly, despite a horrible advertising market this year, his mags, including Muscle & Fitness, are all up in terms of advertising dollar gains this year.......

Maybe Muscletech will buy it. They are keeping all the other mags in biz with thier stupid ads.

I HAVE YET TO FIND A MAGAZINE THAT IS NOT A SELL OUT. You ever start reading a 5 page artical that seems very interesting and you turn to the last page and all you see is CELL_TECH and other get rich wuick scandelous companies...... its disgusting
the one magazine that is halfway decent is MUSCULAR DEVELOPEMENT

Not that I think these magazines are great by ay means, but using advertising to help keep your publication in business is not selling out. What do you expect them to do, pay for the magazines out of their own pocket for us to read? They are just running a business. If you're dumb enough to buy Cell-Tech just because you saw Jay Cutler holding a bottle of the stuff, then it's your own damn fault anyway. I'm sure they would love to run ads for TTokyo labs or Brovel, but I doubt that will happen. Put yourself in their shoes. Wouldn't you want to make as much money as you could even if it meant running a few bullshit ads in your mags?

I agree with OKIE. It is a business, and they have to make money. Besides Flex and Muscle & Fitness never got as bad as Muscle Mag Int. Now that magazine was a complete ad. It had nothng but ads. But Weider just has some bs ads through out the mag, and thats how business works. Do I think he is a sell out? Yes, but for other reasons....

Weider publications are the most unbiased Mags on the market. The ads are seperated from the articles. Can you really say that about Muscle Mag or Ironman?

Didnt he sell his Supplement business a few yrs back

Did'nt he sell his Supplement business a few years ago for 400M??

I think it's less egregious for a mag like MuscleMag to sell ad space to anyone and everyone who will pay for it than to represent a supplement line that is an obvious scam. (i.e EAS, Biotest) Hey, at least MuscleMag came out and said that Myostatin was bullshit.

Yes, mags need money and blaming a mag for running ads is ridiculous. Every periodical runs ads. As long as the infomation is entertaining and/or informative it doesn't matter.

Try monster muscle the magazine, subscriptions are cheap as hell and the articles are actually worth reading cuz they are written by guys who are STILL lifting. Picked up a couple of new, new to me, exercises in the july edition. Got some pointers on preparing for my next bench meet in the june issue, etc..VERY GOOD magazine, very few adds and NO CELL TECH ads at all!

He is entitled to make a living. We don't have to be morons and believe it.

I have to agree. They are just smart bussiness men and know how to make a killing. If I was in their place believe me I would do the same thing. We can't actually believe that he is puting out the mags and supplements for our pleasure. He is doing it for the money. Its all abought the almighty $$. Just my 2 cents.

bro, weider sold out years ago....

Hell i have nothing against the man. Business is business. Besides how may of you have gotten your start in bodybuilding by picking up one of his magazines and seeing the big bodybuilders? I know they certainly influenced me and i saved tons of old issues from the 80's and early 90's. They all contain some good info, tips and excellent pictures.

I don't understand how you guys expect a magazine to stay in business by not selling ads, how does that make them a sellout? They show you pictures of your stars, sometimes talk about drugs and diet strategies. They all have some good info in them, but Musclemag has gotten ridiculous in the recent years.
