Weapons of Mass Destruction

Ok, so if you believed the Bush administration, we invaded Iraqi because they had HUGE stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction and were building delivery systems that were capable of making them a threat to the U.S.A.

Sure the U.S. has an Iraqi scientist that said that the Iraqis quickly destroyed them all when they got invaded..........hmmmm, seems to me that you couldn't destroy everything, especially if there were large quantities--there would still be old burned out casings, residuals, etc. around and what about the production facilities to make these massive stockpiles that were such a threat? And wouldn't it make more sense to USE them against an invader then to just destroy while getting invaded? In fact, it appears that the Iraqis didn't even have many SCUD missles left either, considering the very few that were launched during the war. Of course, the corporate media doesn't even seem to be discussing this issue much anymore.........wonder why?

So where the hell are they? We are all waiting to hear? If it turns out that there were no significant quantities of weapons of mass destruction, then why the hell did "dubya" spend more than 70 billion dollars on top of already spending 250 billion in the red and further bankrupting the national treasury in a time of recession?

I am very surprised that General Electric's defense contracting division hasn't already "manufactured" a few "Iraqi" weapons to place over there as "evidence"--just like the sections of "pipeline" that the defense department displayed during the Nixon regime to "show" that the U.S. had cut the Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos during the Vietnam War as justification for the excursion into Laos in the 1970's. Unfortunately, the "U.S. made oil pipeline sections" were quickly shown to be a fraud and discreditied--so my suspicion of the U.S. government, under a republican administration, manufacturing evidence is not without fairly recent historical precedent. Of course, if the U.S. DOES in fact come up with significant examples of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction I wonder how willing the U.S. will be to let international weapons inspectors/experts look at them to verify their authenticity or will "dubya" suddenly come up with some lame excuse why no one can look at them in detail?

Just some thoughts...............

Of course, if you are some Liberal that doesn't know shit about what you are talking about, you probably never believed the war had anything to do with weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, or installing a democracy in Iraq. In fact, you probably believed it had to do with economics (doesn't it always?) and security interests. You more specifically but misguidely believed that the war had everything to do with controlling Iraq's oil reserves, controlling those resources to break OPEC, punishing Sadaam Hussein for the gross error of switching Iraq's petro dollars from the U.S. dollar to the Euro as fiat, and sending a warning signal to any others considering the same and establishing a hard U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf to threaten Syria and Iran and further secure Israel's security position (interesting how the U.S. has become a client state of Israel rather than the other way around but that is stuff for a whole other thread). Funny thing is that the corporate media never reported any of these things even though they would be a good justification to go to war for some people of a certain mindset all by themselves.

There are no weapons.

Plus the oil we get will far out balance the debt of this war and ressesion. hopefully.

Nice post NCBB. This war was fought because Iraq did post a threat to Israel and for the other reasons that you mentioned.

I predicted that theri would be Arab uprisings when it became apparent that their first objective was to build a pipeline to Israel.

This administration has got a set of balls that boggle the mind. I hope most of us survive their agenda.

No SCUDs were fired at all. It´s a propaganda hoax.

Scuds
Coalition account: On day one of the war, 20 March, military spokesmen for the US and UK announce that "Scud-type" missiles have been fired into Kuwait. This was significant because Iraq was banned from having Scuds or other missiles of a similar range under UN resolutions.
Clarification:Three days later US General Stanley McChrystal reports: "So far there have been no Scuds launched."

It's taken me longer than 13 days to find something in my house, let alone an entire nation. I would think that three months would be closer to an acceptable timeframe.

The ten years of looking was done by the UN, which is the very reason that the US thought that it had to take matters into their own hand. Blaming the US for ten years of UN incompetence doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not sure why you're trying to paint people who believe Iraq had WOMD as pro-government zealots who blindly accept everything that is fed to them, because that's not how I consider myself, and frankly I find it fairly insulting that because I disagree with you, that that makes me some sort of mindless cattle that is unable to rationalize and make my own conclusions. Sorry if I think that a 2 weeks is not enough time to scour an entire country in search of a couple of deliberately hidden weapons caches.

Questioning authority doesn't, in and of itself, make you a better or brighter person. All it does is make you a skeptic.

its funny how the same people that were willing to give the inspectors forever are now demanding the US produce evidence of WMD immediately.

Most have Been "Shipped" to Descret and Johnston! You think there are going to release that to the Sheeple! lol

Good post,

I hope no one here still believes Iraq has WMD!!

Uh....Anyone that believes that Iraq didn't have WMD is naive as hell. We can debate the reasons for going to war, but lets get real.
