We lost my uncle. Serious thread.

You can joke but please keep them to a minimum. My undle has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals most of his adult life. When he`s fine, he does pretty well IF he takes his medication. The problem is, he refuses to take it.

Anyway, One of my uncles pretty much is his caretaker and lives with him when he`s not in the hospital. Now that uncle recently passed away.

Here`s the story... No one knows where my uncle is now. When we call the hopital, they say he`s moved somewhere else (to another hospital or facility) but will NOT tell us where! This has been happening for about 2 YEARS! wtf? They said my uncle gave or did`nt give... "concent" for a forwarding adress. wtf? I know what some may think "So... he does`nt want to be bothered" it`s not like that. He`s really a part of the family and NEVER has had any problems with us or his brthers (my father and uncles). It`s crazy, I don`t even think he can make these decisions by himself. I really think they coersed him into doing it. They want some type of paperwork to be submitted for us to get the info we need to see him. I don`t know the details, it must be close to impossible to get because it`s been 2 freaking YEARS.

Now we want to tell him that his brother died and we can`t even find him! Crazy shit!!! I really think some overzealous psychiatrist got in his head and came up with this thing that "he does`nt want to see his family." I really believe that, because we NEVER had any problems with him, or he with us.

Man, it does`nt seem too long ago he used to take my cousin and I fishing for baby bluefish. Good times. Good fucking times. Must have been 25 years ago. Damn...

dang sorry gl hope they find him and he is safe

god your seplling sucks!

get in touch with a family court lawyer and have the COURT contact your uncle, they can subpoena the doctors records, they probably wont need to, and contact your uncle to get a message through to him. Your situation sounds like EXACTLY the kind that the system was meant to protect.

try it, it couldnt hurt.

Start with a simple credit check -- and if nothing there -- try hiring a P.I.

It's real hard to even breathe in this country and not leave a paper trail. Someplace, somewhere he should be able to be tracked down. Even if he passed away -- the SSA or the county would have record of it.

Good advice but he`s in a facility, no doubt. He never had credit cards, never owned anything, never had a Driver`s license... He was really dependant on his brother his whole life.

I don`t always spell that badly, I don`t know what happened there. When i try to hit the keys lightly and be quiet, I spell a lot of shit wrong.

Crak take me out of your sig, I might be getting a job bro! You`ll jinx me.

i was also going to suggest a private eye, those guys can get to the bottom of things really quickly

or take a look at your late uncles mail/receipts

sorry for your loss, sucks

I was going to say try to appeal to their compassionate side, but then I remembered that you will be dealing with beaurocrats.

Good luck to you and your family, hopefully ya'll can find him.

You have to ask yourself "why would the hospital (or whom ever) want to keep infromation from you and the family????"

I doubt they are willing withholding informaton for your family. There is more to the story, but i'm willing to bet, the hospital has more things to worry about than being petty with informatino.

File a form with the IRS for all his records. Every citizen has to file a tax return, otherwise the IRS will come huntin' for ya. So his caretaker, whoever he is, i'm sure probably filed for him.

Contact a PI -- they always have unique ways to find people. There are many databases that are closed to the public, but can be accessed if you know how to unique and creative methods for them.

Even Medicare will have a record on him. Someone, someplace, obviously has to file his information in order to get paid for taking care of him. Health care has to be paid out of some pot somewhere.
