Ways to make motorcycles safer........

They are great fun and economical as hell.

Problem is that they are hard to see at times and don't fair well vs. automobiles.

I'd like to ride them, I used to, but they can be quite hazardous to ones health.

It would be great if there was a way to make them more compatible on the roads. Looking for ideas.....not rants about stupid ass car drivers. I could point out that a large percentage of the cycles I see are in the midst of high speed lane changes and driving unlawfully.

Loud pipes? That can help but certainly does not endear them to those with functional hearing.

Honking? The most obnoxious thing on the planet.

Safer clothing like leather pants etc? It isn't right to mandate that in my opinion.

Helmet law? Too much fun to ride without one......sometimes.

Any ideas you have?

For your statement about them riding unlawfully,I think as a bike rider you need to ride offensivelly,and if you don't you'll be just another stain on the road.I used to ride like quite the law abider,until I learned that noone sees you riding,so in order to stay up,you need to be seen,and pretend that noone else sees you are there.

Bubble wrap.

At least that was my suggestion for my company. They are on a safety kick, and keep coming up with new rules, so I just suggested we wrap everyone in bubble wrap, so we don't get hurt.

My dad got fucked up pretty bad riding a bike.... Its too dangerous imo.... such a small % of road users are bikers, and such a high % of traffic casualties and disabled are bikers
