Watching No Country for Old Men...

wait til the end...

I agree with this observation. That movie had much potential, but fell apart in the last 10 minutes.

YES!!!

I agree, I was very disappointed in the ending.

Wow. Surprised to see such feeback.

I LOVED the ending.

Is it that you guys need closure for a movie to be good? Did you guys see Memento? What'd you think of that ending?

the way Llewellyn's death was dealt with was my only beef. Totally goddamn anti-climatic. Why spend so much time and detail showing him struggle, and fight, and evade, and generally beat all the odds, then not spend even 2 seconds showing him finally buy it.

I agree.

IMO The ending was good. Not spectacular but good.

You just answered your own question.

Life lesson. Which is pretty much what the entire movie is about. Sometimes life ain't fair. Sometimes it doesn't work out the way it does in the movies (pun intended). Sometimes you fight and fight and fight and claw your way out of that hole - only to fall back down again.

If you dont like the ending it simply means you dont know what (or who) the movie was about.

Thank you!

Americans have become way too comfortable and expect things to be spoon fed to them.

Think, folks. The brain also needs to be exercised, not just your pecs.

No, it just means it sucked
I hate you.

The movie is about Tommy Lee Jones, not Josh Brolin.

I've read quite a bit about it, most are disappointed with the rushed ending (that is what it felt like)

The ending dragged on for a while. Josh Brolin getting killed was not supposed to be the ending at all. The Coens understood this which is why they made sure to have his death happen off screen.

Listen to Jones' speech about his dream. That is a fucking perfect ending.

If given the opportunity, I am certain I could of written a better ending.

Where stuff blows up real good?

Also be sure to have monkeys in it.

Preferably on roller skates.

Too many people do need to have everything spelled out for them.

The more I think about the ending the more I like it.

Just off topic, the ending to the Sopranos was a total classic too. People were infuriated with that and I can't see why.

You didnt understand my post. I have no problem with the character getting killed. I have a problem with the directors not spending any time at all showing it, which I thought it was grossly unfair to the character. Those are two fundamentally different issues.

It doesnt seem unfair when you realize that he is a secondary character in the story.

I completely understood the movie. I thought the ending was weak. I don't need my opinion spoonfed from anyone. If I was into adopting spoonfed opinions I would universally praise this movie as it won 4 Oscars. People who dislike it are standing up against the orthodoxy.

So you are saying you make a movie, Pull some guy over at random on the highway and shoot him in the head just to suggest life isn't fair and expect that to be thought of as creative?

Fuckin stupid...

Why not just let his trailer get picked up in a tornado in the beginning, same point right?

He didnt shoot him. He used compressed air. Totally different.

I want one of those air spray can thingies. I figure it would come in handy when I need to open a new jar of mustard.

Technically it blew.

You know, once I hit the post button I was about to go back and say something like "I knew me saying this opens the door to a pun about the movie itself" but I figured you wouldnt pick up on it.

"It was unfair to the character"

Obviously the scene (or lack of, in this case) evokes the exact emotions this movie aims to conquer.

You're encountering attacks on your integrity and intelligence simply because you don't agree with their opinions. They probably felt deeply moved by the movie and are perplexed as to how someone cannot share the feeling. The only way it can be rationalized in their mind is that you must be lacking the capability to see the value they hold dear. You are some kind of mental and/or emotional inferior because you do not see value in what they see value in.

I think you pretty much summarized it properly.

Im just joshin with him.

People call me all sorts of things because I cant stand any movie that Chris Farley or David Spade have ever appeared in.

Different tastes.

Oh, and I dont like Tyler Perry either because, well, you know...

I'm beginning to think these inferences you keep drawing are based more on your own thoughts about the movie, rather than my comments.

Sentimentality, I had none. Feeling a character with substantial screen time should have had an exit dealt with more fully, yes.

Fair enough on both counts.

Agree 100%. The movie crashed and burned at the end. What a waste!!!!
