Watched the shuttle launch this morning

It was fucking bad ass. The last night launch ever. I watched it from the tarmac at JIA.

I just talked to my old man and we're going to trailer the boat down to Titusville and watch the May launch from the Indian River. I've been in fla my whole life and never seen it up close and in person. Not many more chances left to see it either.

Anyone here ever catch the launch live?

No but I remeber when I was a kid playing sick from school my mom said son why dont you do something constructive today and watch the shuttle launch.So I said sure and The MF exploded in mid air killing everyone.

Yeah. That was horrible. Before my time though.

My dad was building a house on St Augustine Beach the day the Challenger went off. The whole crew watched it blow. Hard to work following such a tragedy.

already more or less happening. civilians have gone and can go into space already, you just have to pay millions of dollars.


commercial spacecraft companies are already around, it's just not cost effective enough for anyone other than the top 1% of the country to do so.

obama has ended numerous nasa programs, including the back to the moon plan as well as their constellation project. probably more too, but that's off the top of my head. funding to NASA has been cut tremendously, but $2.4 billion has just been allocated to research climate change..


cause cutting programs related to space in order to do what independent scientists are already doing just makes sense.

Saw one a while back, it was an evening launch, sky was beautiful color and then there was bright speck up there followed by a curling vapor trail behind it. A flash like lightening behind the clouds and the sky just opened itself up in a million colors when the shuttle punched through.

Friday May 14th at 2:38pm is the next scheduled launch. I happen to be on vacation this week so it's convenient. I think there are three or four more until the progame is axed.
