Was anyone ever in the mentoring program for their college?

I decided to become a mentor at my univ. since Im an old man (30) and a senior. Apparently all you need is a pulse and passing grades to become a mentor and I figure it looks good on a resume so I did it. Its for a full year also. Anyone do this and what did you think?
