I was wondering how many of you do a warm up before you work out. I think it is one of the most important parts of a work out. I never used to do them untill I started working out with a friend who warmed up on the tread mill before each workout and now I can not imagine go with out one.

From the minute I walk into the gym it's takes around 20 minutes of stretching and warming up before I get to my first heavy set. I'm way stronger this way and can stay much healthier

My warmup begins before I even step into the gym. I ride my bike there, to get my blood flowing. Then I do lots of warm up sets, and some stretching. It really helps keep injuries down.

I never hit the treadmill before a workout, but i usually do one good warm up set right before any power exercise, except chest. I tend to do two or three different exercises to warm up before my bench work. ;)

I only workout first thing in the Morn...but
On weekends, I Ride my bicycle to the Gym as well, Its a great warm up. Once there I only need some back and upper body stretches for some big lifting.
On weekdays, I roll directly out of bed to about 30 push ups on my knuckles (Wrists were hurting) then do a few pull ups, this seems to get me pretty loose. I Shave n Shit before I actually start, not sure if this is a safe warm up though.

I do 5 min on a stationary bike, I just about break a sweat. You should always warm up so that your core body temp goes up.

I never do ANY type of cardio before I lift...I lose way too much strength that way. When you sweat...you lose strength and burn energy.

I just take long warm ups on my sets...then give it all I have.

It is important! I especially warm up when it comes to leg training. When it comes to training legs it is important to have your ligaments and tendons warmed up, else you can pop something.

I don't do cardio at all, but I do abs, light warmup sets and a little stretching just to wake y body up and get it ready.

It seems to me that people who don't warm up at least a little tend to be the guys that aren't growing either. If you lift heavy, I dont see it as a choice.

I just stretch well and do light, high rep warm-ups before I get to my worksets. I only do warm-ups for the first lift for each body part each day.

i ride the stationery bike for a couple minutes, then stretch for a couple, and after that i do 1 warmup set of about 20 reps before i begin training a specific muscle.
