Want to purchase a laptop...advice?

I was looking at a dell. I don't need to-of-the-line.....but do prefer the CD/DVD R/W, wireless network card.

Any suggestions? Like to stay around $1500.

IMO, Dell is the best bang for your buck.

For $1500 you can get a real nice laptop.

Check out their refurb's as well, they are normally cheaper and carry a good warranty.

Wireless network card - DO NOT GET A LINKSYS. Get an Orinoco Gold. I have had a linksys and had to return it the day I got it.

CDRW/DVD- not sure about DVD RW, but most laptops come standard now with a DVD player that will burn CDs as well.
