Wanna get cut??? Walk!!!

So this weekend i was out from friday to monday over in Holland on a vacation to go watch some fights up there
anyway whlst ii tried to eat the best i could, it's difficult eating great while away so i had to eat as much protein as i could but was eating stuff like white bread, white rice... sometimes potato chips etc but made sure to get good proteins like salmon, chicken etc with each meal.

Anyway we would eat and then walk about 2 or 3 miles so whilst i wasn't eating the best i was always physisically active. And i noticed that instead of gaining weight, i lost weight and look alot more cut up!!! :D

I guess walking around is the reason :)

I guess it's walking in combination with a good metabolism. I find that even if I rarely eat cheat meals, I seems to not gain any weight from it. My body is probably at so much difficency from these kinds of foods that it's so 'hungy' for this stuff, it uses it for energy.. But I guess walking also helps :)

Yup! It also keeps an aerobic activity just that...........aerobic!
Many under my tutelage ask me if they can RUN for cardio, and I say NO! Makes an aerobic activity anaerobic, and you don't want that for fat burning purposes.

Congrats on your success! :)

lol @ powerwalking, there is a neighbour who does that, he looks so silly.

do an hour of walking and an hour of running. You'll burn more fat running; however the differences is in the ratio of fat:carbohydrates burned... walking burns a greater ratio of fat to carbohydrates than does running.

LOL@Clean!!!!!!! I agree that walking is great! If I eat a cheat meal of junk, I am Fucked! I gain fat soooo eaisily:mad: I used to have a supa fast metabolism when I was younger. I tore my ACL when I was 16, and I sat around for 3 months and did nothing but eat! I gained like 30lbs. I am 5'7, And I was 155 back then, I am 23 now, weighed 190lbs last year, Now I am back to 157:D Most of the people that I have met who are on the Atkins diet do not exercise at all. I tell them all the time that they would loose soo much more weight if they walked 1-2 miles a day!!! Personally I run 3 miles, 4 times a week and I am in my 2nd week of CKD!!This diet is great!!! you don't advocate running for cardio?!

I believe that is exactly what my aforementioned statement is inclusive of in cognitive meaning, yes.

SC interesting that you say walking is better than running, i kinda see the logic
unfortunately for me lol running is a very important part of my training as my training as a whole is VERY anaerobic thus my low weight compared to most guys my height

Running burns more calories. Although the percentages may be in favor of carbs, still the overal absolute total calories burned from the oxidation of fat adipose is greater. Now, if you take AAS, then running will both burn more cals while still preserving hard earned muscle tissues with the use of AAS.

I've been thinking running is like over training. You get your body used to expending lots of energy at once, and it gets more efficient. This makes your cardio work outs need to be much longer in the long run to retain effectiveness. Am i right here?

I used to play a lot of sports, like bball, and noticed i never really lost weight until i did a more targetted hill walking and resistive cardio.

I agree on the walking. The calories burned are almost purely fat calories, and it doesn't cut into your recovery ability like higher intensity cardio does (nor is it as catabolic), which allows you to get into the gym more often to lift.

Yes, walking is definately no substitute for running if you are train ing for lung/cardiac/vascular function and endurance... running is also a lot less boring, and in the end makes you feel much better IMO.

Nothin like finishing a long run and sprinting the last 100 or so meters... the feeling is just awesome.

Once you are conditioned it doesn't really over train you.

and like junk said AAS+running = golden :)

well no aas for me
ya there are otters in the rideau canal

can't wait few more weeks and i get my first skating lesson

I think both running and walking are pretty boring. My morning cardio is not really running but rather walking at an incline using my crappy mechanical threadmeal which translates to about 150.

What about bicycling at the park? Too much lactic acid ?
