Anybody here ever thought of buying leashes and taking there house cats out for a walk to get closer to nature?
And Pdaddii if say this fails I see a teagbagging in your future.

i can't recall ever seeing anyone with a cat on a leash.

Those retractable leashes are useful if you say go for a family picnic and take kitty with you. Then lock the handle down and let kitty roam around w/o having to worry about it running off. They also work great with babies.

1) You need to get them used to harnesses (collars do NOT work, period) at a young age (under 3 months old). After much older than a year old many will not learn to tolerate a harness (imagine a fish out of water).

2) They do not, and cannot, learn to walk like a dog. More like, cat wanders, you walk, you walk, cat catches up ...

I walk my cats on the daily. they have harneses. They are good about it. Ill usually take them over to a park or something and let them wander around. the leashes are this extra long springy material

Cool. I was half way serious about this thread anyway

I was given a cat leash as a gift when I had my first cat. I've never had one that would even tolerate me putting it on them, much less walking with it.

My mom used to take her cat outside on a leash. Kitty got used to it as well. She would often carry the leash in her mouth and drop it in front of mom when she wanted to go outside. It was a great way to keep the cat from running away.

my cat has a harness and leash somewhere for going to the vet...I've never seen a more humiliated look on an animal in my life tho.
