waking up soaking wet 3-4's a night

Frisky

~QUEEN BITCH~
Platinum
and by wet i mean night sweats.

WTF causes this?

It was damn near 58degrees in my room last night, fan on blazing high and i'll be damned, I wake up sweating.

I notice that when I wear any kind of t-shirt or shorts to sleep its this way, could blood flow restriction have any thing to do with it?

I had to strip down to barely nude to get some rest.

Damn I'm tired :(

That doesn't sound like any fun!

The new medication I'm on said it isn't common, but it can have the side effect of having all of the muscles in your body start twitching. Yeah. It decided to do that last night. It's as if my entire body was having an anxiety attack or something. I was up all night.

omg, its menopause already :(

(blood flow in someone like you isnt whats doing it. whats your diet like, are you on any new drugs, do you remember any dreams, if so are they vivid, whats your training like, do you feel rested in the morning etc etc)

damn it better not be that lol

Diet is OK, not really low carbs right now, haven't started the strict one yet. Only thing i take daily is Rala, multi vitamins and Dandelion root.
Fluid intake is sub par but still getting in plenty, Dreams yea... but nothing horrible bad. Training just kicked in big time, pushing myself really hard right now to get some strength back.

And NO don't feel rested at all, this is EVERY NIGHT. I am due to have a sleep disorder test, but i keep putting it off. Even with out the sweats, i wake up 3-4 times a night.

can it really be that bad?

I know the sleep disorder can be if its some form of apnea, which i fear it is being i've been like this for going on 15 years.

common sense says its got to do with thrashing your bod in the gym as well as your diet (its common, but then, you have dieted harder and so know all of that) so im unsure of what could help you, apart from say, having a low GI carb before bed to prop up your blood glucose while you sleep (lack of carbs is usually the one you associate with this sort of thing) because youre not about to ease off the training, same with your diet...and i dont want to suggest drugs (yet) since theyll give you shitty sleep anyway. if youre willing, have some fructose or somethign before bed and see what that does. often simple cures work best

good luck

grandma ;)

yes it can. i'm being serious. but most likely it won't be, but get it checked out just in case.

and sleep apnoiea is usually associated with weight gain, so i wouldnt run in taht direction.

i just saw the bit where you said youre sleeping clothed...little changes like that are also highly likely to be the cause (affects your sleep 'hygiene') soooooo...is there something skimpy but decent you can sleep in?

Gonna try more carbs, I had a killer workout last night that may be the culpret. But I can't see changing my training so i'll have to find alternative. I have a sleeping pill now, Lunesta (sp) I still don't sleep thru the night, have also tried a few others with no success.

Thanks,

Yea, last night i had to just throw on a baby tee and some boyshorts. Still not like sleeping nude but It will have to do.

My wife also had these for like a 2 week period not too long ago. She always sleeps naked though. She would get really hot, take the covers off, start freezing, put the covers back on, start sweating bullets, etc. She would then usually wake me up because she would be moving all the way on my side of the bed to get away from the wetness. When I say wetness, I mean the sheets were so wet it felt like she pissed the bed wet. I started looking up causes and it can range from sleep apnea to thyroid problems to even aids. Not to scare you or anything but that's what I read. They did go away though and since we have no insurance at this time, a doctor visit was out of the question

The last time I went to the doc to do the routine check up we did a ton of blood test, something i feel everyone should do, sexually active or not, one partner or not, hey you never know. everything is fine, he does however think i have some form of sleep apnea.

But yea thats exactly what i do, even though its freezing in the room I am sweating my ass off, then i try to uncover and i freeze.. so frustrating.

Sounds scary. I know of people in the offic who were suffering through that over the past month (sleep disorders). I had to sit through one of their meetings right after the person got 2 hours of sleep. :worried:

ok EZ come over here and ill give it to ya good and you will be out in no time. i promise 30 seconds flat, im quick.... lol

hey Frisky. Did this just start when your kids started sleeping with you? If one of them lays with their head on top of you it could cause you to exhibit obstructive sleep apnea like symptoms. Waking up sweating can be associated with apnea, but in your shape it's not likely unless your weight has varied by something significant like 20lbs or more...

its worse when they sleep with me yes... my daughter sleeps horrible and i end up with knees in the back hands on my face etc. But i've been dealing with this for years.

I right now not at comp weight but i'm back up to my precomp weight before I bulked up. Still not at my biggest though. Of course during cutting I dropped 28lbs and since have put about 15 of those back on, not too bad. And thats been since July so it has been slow and steady, not immedate gains.

I didn't know night sweats were a symptom of apnea. I had them for the first time in years the other night. Was weird.

I take it you've tried sleeping pills?

i've tried quite a few, I hate them. My doc even resulted to trying some antidepressants, but those were even worse. Last visit with the migraines, and bringing up the sleep problems to him he put me on Lunesta.

I'm not big on relying on some pill to put me to sleep, I just don't like the on going cycle. I'd rather get down to the problem first.

IMO ....
I'd think a full spectrum blood test that includes ALL hormones ( est, test, thyroid, ..... ) would be in order.

This might reveal a physiological problem easily cured or managed.

I'm a great believer in basic problem solving, which demands searching until the primary problem is revealed.

Yeah, they can be... without being the presence of something else like...

you gaining weight,
drinking quite a bit of alcohol that night,
taking a CNS depressant,
having major sinus congestion,
or you being abnormally (like freakin exhausted to the point of hallucinating) tired

I wouldnt guess it to be related to apnea.

Frisky, do you have hallucinations or lifelike vivid ''dreamish scenes'' right as you're trying to go to sleep?

Do your legs kick and twitch or do you feel like spiders are crawling up your legs when you try to go to sleep?

Have you ever taken any sort of thyroid hormone?

I have sleep apnea & I've noticed a higher inclination to night sweats. Usually just my head though.
Mind you, I've been fighting the flue for tha last month, so it's even worse. Soaked 2 pillows.

I have crazy dreams sometimes, very lifelike, trying to wake up and really can't budge. Some where I am not breathing and thats what eventually wakes me and I am then gasping for air.

Never noticed the twitching or kicking, no weird crawling feelings either.

I've tried different hormones, but nothing recently.

you're kicking it up a notch in the gym, have disturbed sleep, and night sweats. sounds like overtraining.

is your basal temp elevated? resting heartrate elevated? any mild lymphandenopathy (swollen glands)? loss of appetite? lethargy? are you feeling weaker than normal in ur lifts (even if ur lifting same amt of weight as b4). any decrease in pumps at gym?

been there done that. as much as you dont want to stop pushing urself in the gym, if you are overtrained you're holding ur progress back. less will be more.

I just kicked it up to what I consider below my norm in the gym. I'm still only training at most 5 days a week and im never in there for more than an hour 15mins and that includes stretching. Only one bp a week though.

I've not checked my temp or my heart rate lately. Glands fine, appetite sucks.. and my strength is finally back up on the rise. Pumps insane!

I've trained far more intense than this pre comp last year, i'm just coming off a small break so maybe it will take my body some time to adjust, not sure.

okay, so the restless leg syndrome idea is out... Do your kids ever tell you you kick and twitch while sleeping??? (slightly different problem, to the same end)

Do these lifelike dreams occur as you're trying to go to sleep or as you're waking up from a period of sleep?

Do your kids say you snore or anything? How often do you wake up gasping for air?

GD is right about small things affecting your ''sleep hygeine'' Has the amount of light in the room you sleep in changed at all? Temperature? any other medication you're taking changed???

you need to get laid and fast. do you rub one out before bed? that sometimes helps.

dont forget that u were ....ahem....metabolically enhanced......during ur contest prep (i assume), so dont compare xcercize volume/intensity while natty.

but if your strength is increasing, and ur getting good pumps, ur probably not in overtraining.

night sweats is a common sympt of lots of stuff, some of which is serious so u should definitely be checked out and get ur blood work. (but the bad stuff is usually also associated with lymphadenopathy which you say you dont have)

just take 2 flintstones vitamins in the meantime.

I`d bet its from your workout...sometimes when I work out late and then try to get to bed at a decent hour, I`ll keep sweating for a while, even moreso after a hot shower....

Yeah, I've done the study & I have a CPAP machine. I have nostril issues though, so until I get those taken care of, the CPAP isn't very effective.

Sounds to me like your estrogen is out of whack and your having night sweats...you might want to see a Dr.. or it could be HIV...lol j/k sounds hormone related
