SHIT

I eat this thing because it was suposed to a carb source with LOW GLYCEMIC INDEX . Now I found that PASTA ( spaguetti and fettutine ) actually have a LOWER glycemix index than brown rice .

http://www.diet-i.com/glycemic-index-foods-list.htm

From now on , I will only eat PASTA . I hate brown rice , I almost puke every time I eat this thing .

Look at 2 different GI lists and you'll see different results

WW pasta and brown rice have about the same GI
Don't be anal

Take whatever you prefer

I know alot of people probably don't mix carbs and fat in the same meal when cutting, but I've found a great way to eat brown rice. Just take a tbsp. of olive oil and mix it in with a half cup of rice along with some garlic and maybe a few other herbs. Tastes great and it's easy to make. :p

I'm not a big fan of grains, I feel better when I restrict them in my diet. I have oat bran hot cereal daily but most of my carbs come from fruits and vegetables. Although, I do occasionally have pasta as my postworkout meal.

its impossible to get a healthy portion of pasta if you order out. they give you like 2 pounds of spagehhti per serving lol

look at teh respective calories, pasta holds loads plus its more processed then brown rice!!! If you are cutting with carbs then brown rice is usually preferable I thought

I thought brown rice was unprocessed and pasts was highly processed?????????

no?

Brown rice is almost always unprocessed (except pre-cooked in-the-bag brown rice)

As for pasta, yopu can find the better ( whole wheat "natural" pasta) and the worse (refined flour + a shit load of other ingredients)

ive been preaching this for a while... rice in general isnt a good carb except maybe post workout (dextrose is much easier on my stomach then though)

When you eat fat and carbs together, it slows the digestion of the carbs down a bit, which might account for the lower GI of pasta.

But just because it's digesting slower, doesn't mean its good for you.

Things to help brown rice taste better and still be strict:

mustard
wasabi
soy
eggs, scallions, BAM fried rice

Mmmm, wasabi in brown rice. I've never thought of that one. Thanks. :)

yup, you gets no fiber in spaghetti

in whole wheat spaghetti you do.

and i abandoned brown rice a long time ago. i eat long grain basmati rice. tastes a hell of alot better and it's actually lower GI than brown rice.

Yes, that's not that good

microwaveable = higher GI

basmati rice does taste better than brown rice, cooks faster too... pretty damn close to white rice

mix in some olive oil and garlic mMmm
