virus/spyware in my computer?

Mayn, something is fucked up with my computer...I have a porn search engine embedded on my screen...I can't close it, nothing happens when I right click...my homepage was even switched to some bullshit webpage selling anti-spyware. My connnection is solid, but it now takes 5 minutes to load a page. In haste and anger I deleted a bunch of shady looking files/programs...though I wonder if erased the wrong shite, nothing has happened for the better...every time on click on the internet icon a file tries to download...called shadow.dll...wtf? Help please, I'm laid up with a broken foot, web surfing is all I got to pass the time!!!

Gambino I had the same thing and tried everything to get rid of it adaware and spybot won't do it I haven't tried cwshredder yet might have to do that today. I switched browsers to Mozilla and haven't had a problem with it since then but it is still lurking around in my computer somewhere. Let me know if you manage to get rid of it.

yes, they're free. I would downlaod them on the PC you're on, put them on floppy (if they fit) or CD, the problem will be that you want to update those as soon as you install them (update spyware definitions), before you run it.

Make sure you run Tea Helper, the SpyBot plugin once you've cleared everything off.

I'd suggest using mozilla or netscape.

Automate spybot and ad aware to run on start-up.

Yep, ad aware and spy bot let a few things through.

Using the Tea Helper to prevent registry changes is really a good solution though.

Try updating the programs. There are new updates almost every day.

I used CWshredder to get rid of a homepage jacker (about:blank) a couple of weeks ago on a friends PC. I had run Ad ware, Spybot, NAV and did a bunch of manua lregistry edtis an blah blah blah that i read of fthe net to get rid of that homepage hijacker and nothing got rid of it. I then read a post on some forum where some one was able to get rid of it using the shredder, I downlaoded it and bingo, hijacker gone.

I think all 3 together make for some good protection (4 with NAV) and yes update them before running them (all the time not just he first time).

in Adware, Select folders to scan, click on Select and then select your entire C drive. I found so many things in folders that the default settings weren't checking.
